We got caught in terrible traffic, and could not reach the hotel by the latest time they listed for check-ins. We called, a little nervous about communication, because we had read that they were a Russian couple who did not speak much English. But the man who answered understood us and assured us that they would hold our room for us. When we finally arrived there, we rang and rang the bell. The door was finally opened - by some other guests. The owners were out shopping for the next day's food, but the guests (who were making their dinner in the kitchen) made us very welcome. Not too long after our arrival, the owners appeared. The husband took us to our room, which was actually an apartment, with a very large and open bedroom/living room, a mini-kitchen, a bathroom (actually, a shower room), and more closet and storage room than we could ever need. He then proceeded to give us a map of Marianske Lazne, showing us how to get to the various sights and telling us when to go to the main house in the morning for breakfast. When we explained that we had not yet had dinner, he showed us how to cut through to a very good and inexpensive restaurant (Filip) that would still be open. When we went for breakfast the next morning and the following two, his lovely wife, who speaks very little English, made every effort to give us what we wanted. When I negated the orange juice, she brought me apple juice. When she saw that I didn't eat meat, she brought me a yogurt. The second day we were there, she made pancakes! There was a coziness that almost made us feel as though we were part of an extended family, which added to the entire experience. And we got all of this for an amazingly...
Read moreIt’s not really a hotel. It’s a family villa in which the owners are renting the rooms. Few rooms are in a bungalow in the back of the garden, the rest are in the house. ||The garden in the house is really beautiful.||The owners are nice, polite and trying to accommodate you request, even explain where to visit in Mariánské Lázně.||The room was simple, minimalistic and colorful, with bed, TV, bathroom, hairdryer, fridge and electric water kettle. ||There is free Wi-Fi!!!!||||On the negative side, the bathroom was not properly cleaned (there were brown marks on the toilet).||We receive not fully dried towels after 8 p.m. (only after we've requested for them).||There were no washing toiletries in the bathroom, except for liquid hand soap.||In the "hotels" offer was mentioned that there should be sleepers provided. After asking for them, we've receive dirty, 2 sizes smaller rubber slippers. To our later finding, one pair was two left feet, one smaller, one bigger.||If you are thinking of getting your usual big breakfast in the morning, to give you energy for at least half day hiking, forget it. The breakfast was appealing. The poorest which we've seen in all our traveling. 2 thin slices of ham and cucumber, few pieces of bread, not fully half raw fried egg and one small fruit yogurt. When asked for a boiled egg, they’ve offered us to make the same egg sunny side down. There was no fruit or juice. There was only instant coffee and cheapest teabags.||The preferable method of payment was in cash (but if you don't have cash, they accept credit cards), probably to avoid tax payment.||The owners are not fluent in Czech, and they don’t...
Read moreWe have made here two-days stopover during our car trip over the Europe. The hotel is actually a small family villa with apartments to rent. Owners are nice, hospitable and ||attentive (and Russian-speaking). They keep all the duties over the hotel and are very helpful advising nearby attractions and features. The hotel itself is fine (fresh, clean, cosy), as well as a service. It is located rather far from the city center yet near to the park with mineral springs.||||Just two notes. The 1st: clarify room configuration beforehand (we had bath and toilet across other's room lobby). And the 2nd: old rusty fence around city stadium is right across the street, so you will see it if your room is with...
