Hotel Saletes — Hotel in okres Břeclav

Hotel Salety occupies a nice renovated building right in front of the stunning Valtice chateau and next to the back of the main church. I suppose that originally it was a service building, like for stables or guards. Half of the rooms face the pathway to the chateau, the other half (cheaper ones) have windows on the unappealing inner courtyard of the agricultural museum, currently under renovation. I probably was there in low season, the hotel looked quite empty and it was staffed only during the day, even though apparently there was somebody in the reception at night for emergencies. The rooms are renovated in a quite modern way, the minibar was not working though and the air condition needed a "push" in the form of a request to the reception (solved). Good strong wifi, comfortable beds, provision of toiletries was fine. The minuses were a generally uninterested attitude by the staff, always too busy to talk to each other rather than acknowledge the presence of (paying) customers, but when taken alone the ladies at the reception were always acceptably polite. The breakfast looked a bit "abandoned", it was in theory available from 8 to 10 but once I got there at 9 and most stuff was gone, including cutlery and plates. I had to chase staff around to be given somewhere to eat on, which I find very annoying. A good hotel should make sure that everything is available for the entire duration of the breakfast time. No pastry to speak of, the two types of bread were both quite unappealing for me (dark bread with cumin and classic czech "rohlik"). Also, I had doubts that any room service was done, since the bed was found always the way I left it, but then I noticed some new towels and toiletries so yes somehow came but strangely ignored the bed. Valtice is definitely a place worth visiting, and the Salety is the place to stay.||It looks like an old coaching inn, perhaps to serve the main chateau (castle) which it is right next to. It is a beautiful hotel.||The rooms are good - clean and well maintained. We booked a room with a double bed - but the 'double' bed was two single beds pushed together. Each had a separate single quilt...||Whilst just outside the chateau, our room looked onto a small area at the back that was being developed. Not ugly but you might want to ask for a room that looks over the front of the hotel. Some minor drilling noises at 07:30am, so if you're a late sleeper then a room at the front will be more important!||Breakfast was reasonable - not that much variety but enough for most people.||They don't have 24h reception - you will be given a key to the main front door so shouldn't be an issue. Zuerst das Positive: Das Hotel - in einem Teil eines alten und schön renovierten Wirtschaftsgebäudes untergebracht - liegt unmittelbar neben dem Schloss Valtice; wir hatten ein Zimmer zum Hof und konnten den Blick auf die Doppeltürme der benachbarten Barockkirche genießen.||Unser Zimmer war mit einem sehr bequemen Doppelbett, Dusche, WC, TV-Gerät, Minibar und Klimaanlage ausgestattet und entsprach daher auf den ersten Blick den Anforderungen, die ein Zimmer einer gehobenen Preisklasse zu erfüllen hat.||Auch das Frühstücksbuffet war mit warmen (Eierspeise, Würstchen, Schinkenspeck) und kalten (Wurst, Käse, Schinken) Speisen gut bestückt, der Kaffee (Selbstbedienung aus einem Automaten) war wirklich gut.||Zusammenfassung: Die "Hardware" entsprach durchaus unseren Erwartungen.||Leider gab es auch viel Negatives: Wie sich in der Verwendung zeigte, ließ sich das Waschbecken zwar verschließen, danach aber nicht wieder öffnen, weil der dafür notwendige Hebel nicht mehr vorhanden war... Das Bad war zwar oberflächlich sauber, bei genauerer Betrachtung waren aber auf dem Holzboden Flecken zu erkennen; auch auf den "frischen" Handtüchern waren deutlich rote (Blut?)Flecken sichtbar.||Nach der zweiten Nacht wurde zwar noch der Mistkübel entleert, zum Bettenmachen fehlte dem Personal aber offenbar die Kraft, auch das auf dem Boden deponierte Badetuch lag abends immer noch dort...||Im Kleiderkasten sind genau 2 (in Worten zwei) Kleiderbügel vorhanden - für jede Person also einer!||Im Frühstücksraum war auf den Plätzen nichts vorbereitet, es erwartete uns der blanke Tisch, Besteck, Servietten etc müssen vom Buffet geholt werden; während des Frühstücks reinigt das Personal die Nachbartische mit einem stark chemisch riechenden Desinfektionsmittel - das war nicht wirklich appetitfördernd. Nach der dritten und letzten Nacht waren wir die ersten Gäste beim Frühstück und trotzdem war der Wassertank des Kaffeeautomaten leer...||Zusammenfassung: Das Personal wirkt total uninteressiert, die Gäste werden wohl eher als störend wahrgenommen, insbesondere, wenn sie nicht aus Tschechien kommen. Die Fremdsprachenkenntnisse sind so gut wie nicht vorhanden, die Rezeptionistin konnte sich in Englisch gebrochen verständlich machen, Deutsch wird (ca. 5 km Luftlinie von der österreichischen Grenze!) nicht gesprochen...||Alles in allem: Das Hotel behauptet von sich, ein 4-Sterne-Haus zu sein; diese Bewertung ist nicht nachvollziehbar - mehr als 3 Sterne für die Infrastruktur und höchstens 2 für das Personal können nicht...
