To start, whilst this hotel is only a couple of miles from Poland, the majority of clientele are German, rather than Polish. This is not unusual for Harrachov - not so long ago it was part of Germany. It does make communication with staff difficult though, as they don’t speak great Polish, we speak no Czech, and my German is shaky.||I was impressed how clean the room was - no dust, things orderly. However, the hotel itself is very tired, and for some reason there was a smell of diesel down the corridor where our room was. Still, the hotel is designed to be used by skiers and can see that it is functional.||By far the most disappointing thing at the hotel is the food. During dinner they set the table for breakfast, meaning you can only sit down at certain places. The food is off a menu rather than a buffet, so a waitress comes to take your order. The menu is not in English (not an issue), but it is also not in Polish. The food itself is of low quality and poorly cooked- putting pickled cabbage on the same plate as goulash? A goulash sauce that is a pale grey? There are some salad items to add to your meal, but these felt out of place, like a tortilla that looked like it had salami and cheese in it, but tasted of bland and spice.||The breakfast consists of salad items like the night before, plus either small frankfurters and scrambled eggs (that looked grey), or small bratwurst and a round fried egg. I have stayed in hotels throughout Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic, and never before have I not looked forward to a breakfast.||We paid £95 for two nights with breakfast and dinner. We do not feel it was value for money - the hotel was clean, but when I compare it with similar establishments in Poland it just doesn't...
Read moreAs a professional in the tourism I must say that I have not seen such a negative approach for a long time. The rooms were tramendously cold so that we had to go to nearby city Liberec to buy a small electrical heater otherwise we would not be able to get a decent sleep. The New Years Eve celebration was really desparate, faded food of lowest quality, the same poor quality of served wine, definately not complying with the price of 1150 CZK per pax (47 EUR p.p.) for New Years Eve buffet dinner. I do understand the green filosofy especially in the mountains however if you ask the reception staff after spending already 3 nights in the hotel for changing towels and she responds : " We will not provide you with clean towels as you are leaving tomorrow morning anyway" this expresses itslef what a property this is and there is nothing more we could add to this. So if you want to travel to Harrachov please make sure you avoid this place...
Read moreI was first time on mountain and took trainer from there. I got very friendly instructor who thought me with couple of hours enough that I went on the top of a red mountain and knew how to come down. Very encouraging, highly motivated instructor. Kudos to her. I have a lot to learn, but the start was very fun. She made sure this would become my hobby as it’s for her. ||She helped me to organize trainers for my kids and set everything up. The trainers for the kids were also doing their best to teach kids skiing. Maybe they were used to parents who would be fixed on the results and measure them on how fast kids would get on big mountain. We just wanted everybody to have fun and kids didn’t need to start skiing after 1 hour. Our kids didn’t speak any of the languages that they knew, but they still got very well along with the kids and my girls can’t wait to get back there. ||They ski learning was done as part of...
