Quality Hotel Ostrava City — Hotel in okres Ostrava-město

Sorry, nothing but misery during this, our, 2nd stay at Park Inn Ostrava.

Pros:

1. Very comfortable bed.
2. The male server at "Bamboo". Knew his wine and how to serve it.

Cons:

1. Got a Junior Suite, 2nd floor (207). Asked for higher floor at desk, told none available.
2. Room had strong odor of cigarette smoke.
3. Air conditioner turns off with windows open... who knew?
4. Miserable night because of the smoke.
5. Up at 0400 because of sun coming in open windows... had the windows open because of the smoke. Too warm all night...

Early next morning, front desk changed us to 507. 6) We had been told late last night the Junior Suites were fully booked? Thankfully, no smoke odor. 7) Turned on Air Conditioner at night (warm outside). Closed thee windows so the air conditioner would cool the room. Absolutely no cool air from the air conditioner all night! Very warm. Slept poorly.

9. Steak was not a "ribeye" as the menu stated. Terrible meat. Tough and tasteless.
10. Chicken a bit under cooked. Potatoes not completely cooked.
11. Chose "Paint on a Plate" for dessert. Chef's choice. A total joke. 4 blue berries, 3 strawberries, a stale cookie and a piece of something very small. How much did they charge for that?

I stayed for 3 nights during a purely touristic visit to Ostrava. I wondered if I should choose the Park Inn or something downtown. The thing is this place has great ratings overall and the places downtown have reviews saying they are noisy, run down, or that the prices are very high etc. So I chose the Park Inn and I must say it was a good choice. The hotel is superb and downtown really is just a 15 minute walk away. Or a 2-3 minute ride by the cities excellent, safe and very cheap public transportation system. Also I must add that I came to Ostrava during a record breaking heatwave this summer. And this was no problem for the Park Inn's air conditioning. Which is really something. A few days earlier, during the same heat, I stayed at a hotel with excellent reviews in nearby Katowice, but the air-com there actually gave up and the staff just apologized that it's either insufficient or shockingly loud as it works on the fullest of full capacity, but not here. Here the air-con was perfectly quite, yet managed to keep the room cool (or even cold if you set it like that) during weather which happens every 30 years...

I recently spent a week here and found the hotel to be very clean and comfortable. The room was quiet and well-kept. The bed was just right, not too hard and not too soft. The bathroom was spotless. There were plenty of outlets and the lighting was more than sufficient. Reception was businesslike and professional. The breakfast offered had plenty of choices and was quite filling, especially as it was sometimes my only meal of the day. The only negatives were that the room was sometimes too hot and when ordering from the set menu in the restaurant at dinner, they were unwilling to accommodate dietary restrictions, telling us that no changes could be made.||||I would readily stay here again should my travels take me back to Ostrava...
