I run a small family business myself so I do not write negative reviews lightly, I understand the hotel has recently changed hands, I hope for their sake they take this review in the constructive manner it is intended. ||||Firstly the positives. The hotel is well located for the ski bus that runs around the resort. The rooms were functional and could accommodate families, they were warm and clean. The staff were friendly and tried to assist where possible. ||||The buffet included in our package was ok, but put it this way, I made sure I had a decent lunch elsewhere. The food the restaurant could produce was much better quality than the package buffet. ||||Our stay spanned New Years Eve and to be fair there was an excellent effort made for the guests, which included a surprisingly good fireworks display. The wifi was also good.||||The main issues I had with the Hotel Stoh were as follows. Firstly the 'one room key rule' was insane, my room was on the top floor (four flights) and if half my family had gone back early I had to traipse up and down stairs to get a key to get into the locker room, not what you want after a days skiing, these cards cost pence, the cost benefit of allowing more than one key is large.||||The breakfast was abysmal. No eggs? Really? One two slice toaster for 60 people. It in no way set you up for the day, hence the need for a big lunch.||||Our group was 24 in size, on two nights my family had to sit in a backroom as the management would not allow us to have two large tables, meaning for example a couple would be sat at a table for five therefore using the dining space inefficiently.|| ||They eventually allowed a big table on NYE and it worked well so the dining room was left like that, until on a whim the owner decided to change it back, further intervention was required and they relented but why create the conflict? It wasn't as if they were turning tables.||||The management had a very miserly approach to their business that just left a feeling of being screwed. Charging for tap water, an extra pillow, and a dollop of ketchup!||||The management are and I don't say this lightly, openly rude. A few examples, I ask for cream to go on the dry (inedible) cake dessert, waiter says yes no problem, comes back from the kitchen and apologises and explains the owner wont let him. Owner comes out and I ask him for cream and he just points at the cake and tells me "no that's it" as he walks off. I had to moisten it with the tinned peaches, it was still awful.||||Upon checking whether the other owner had booked a taxi for me I was met with rolling eyes and pure disdain. In every other hotel I have stayed at if I book a taxi in reception they give me an acknowledgement and ETA, that way I don't have to check.||||A large number of our group started watching a sporting event in the bar. This would have gone on for a good couple of hours, with money spent at the bar. Instead the owner came in with his friends and changed the channel. He then proceeded to lie that the event was not on. This is a place of business, not your lounge. This was a great demonstration of how to lose money.||||I have noticed a lot of reviews are quite historic and do not reflect their service currently. The new owners need to change their approach, the staff are keen to help, if only the owners will let them instead of trying to save a few pence. ||||The one star review reflects the fact that the 4 star rating you have is not current, and as mentioned is aimed more at the owners than the staff /...

Read moreFirstly let me say that we returned to Spindleruv Mlyn after a very enjoyable visit in February 2019, so much so that I recommended the resort to friends and family. The hotel that we selected had excellent reviews, which filled us with confidence. They are however deceptive as they are very old reviews. The ownership of the Hotel seem to change between the booking and the payment date, which was not an issue. However our experiences did not match the earlier reviews. Despite the excellent staff (David and Micheal) the management team, I think husband and wife, where more like Mr and Mrs Basil Faulty. I found them rude and unhelpful. The catalogue of penny pinching, from no eggs, some mornings and no bread with soup some days, to charges for extra pillows. We had no towel changes in a week for 2 adults, luckily we took our own towels. The ludicrous policy of one key card per room, when I was on the second floor and the ski boot room was on the basement floor was stupid. I decided to purchase another card for the 150 Czech Krona stated in the information pack, but when I wanted to buy one , the price changed to 200 Czech Krona, when I quizzed this I was told that was and old price, (a key card costs pence). Moving to the food, apart for the New Year dinner which was excellent the food was quite bland and predictable after the first day, rice, potatoes, pasta, a stew and some meat. And it was the same everyday. Dessert was canned peaches every day until we complained, then we had fruit cocktail everyday, which then used in the dessert cake the last day. Breakfast was and experience, with a 2 slice toaster for 60 people (which was only retrieved from the kitchen because one of our party requested it). My advice would be to stay elsewhere, last February we Stayed about 500m away in Hotel Morevenka (2 star) and they could not do enough...
