This was our second time in Melkus. First one was perfect. This one was a disaster. Everything because of the owner and the girl who were the staff and were supposed to help the guests to get some rest and feel comfortable (that is holiday for). There were 5 of us (5 men age 40+) and we stayed the for 2 nights, thanks god not longer. Anyway on the arrival nobody came to pick our luggage, so we had to climb up 200m in heavy snow with bags, skies, snowboards etc. (when we were in Melkus first time our luggage was delivered by the staff on ski scooter). During the check-in we were attacked by the staff, because of that we had our shoes on - the reception desk was on the first floor and we were supposed to leave our boots downstairs. First of all it is really strange (first time in my life I had to take my shoes off entering the hotel), second we didn't know about this rule and the girl at the desk was so angry as we were at least killed her pet or something worse. Later that evening we went to the hotel bar, to have some rest. It was about 21.20-21.30. The bar was closing at 22.00. There were 4 of us. We ordered 2 teas and 2 beers and sat in the bar. At 21.55 we ordered another beers. At first the owner refused to sell us the beer (ha stated that the bar was closed), but after showing him the time he poured the beer - but he wasn't happy about that. Because we were aware that bar would close in 5 minutes we ordered 4 beers (2 for my friend and 2 for me, the rest of the guys were just sitting and talking). After drinking our first beer (10-15minutes) the owner came to us and said that they were closed and that we had to go to our room. So we took our mugs and were about to go, but the Angry Girl said that we couldn't go to our apartment with it (I didn't understand wheter she meant the beer, or the mug). Can you imagine this? In our apartment we had beer mugs in the cupboard, we could buy beer in the supermarket and drink it, but we couldn't take beer mugs from our hotel bar... Monty Python... That wasn't all. During the second breakfast they were out of knives. My friend asked Angry Girl for the knife, and she returned with sarcastic remark that he hadn't say "please". Below any standard... Check-out is at 10.00 a.m., so it is really early one. After quick breakfast I had to wash the dishes and cups left after the evening. There was a dishwasher in the apartment, but I couldn't find the tablets. So I washed the dishes the old way, in hands. But there was no place to dry the plates. So I put those to the dishwasher. Having packed 2 of us went skiing/snowboarding. The rest packed and checked-out. They were just to leave the guesthouse when Angry Girl stroke again. This time she accused us of using the dishwasher which we didn't use. Moreover using the dishwasher in Melkus is an extra service and it is extra paid. I don't know the price, but Angry Girl told my friends that they would charge my Visa... I don't have any comment in my mind for that. Two more things, first the smell from the toilet (few times it really stank so there is some problem with the ventilation), and there was not enough warm water in the morning so 3 of us had to have the cold shower. The Angry Girl said that it hadn't been her problem. To sum it up I would strongly recommend not to go there, even for one night, unless you want to lose your nerves, or you like to listen to stupid and surreal remarks of the Angry Girl. I've traveled accros Europe, America, Asia and Africa, slept in more than hundred different places and nowhere been treated this way. If you like to be humiliated during your holiday, if you like to feel that the staff doesn't give a f..k about you, and feel like Sting in "Englishman in New York", Melkus is the right...
Read moreI recently stayed at Penzion Melkus in Pec pod Sněžkou, and it was a fantastic experience. The location is unbeatable—right on the Javor 1 ski slope, so you can ski in and out with ease. The rooms were clean, cozy, and well-equipped, and the breakfast each morning was delicious with plenty of variety. After a day on the slopes, relaxing in the sauna was perfect. The staff were friendly and always willing to help. It’s also great for families, with play areas for kids and pet-friendly accommodations. Highly recommend for a comfortable and...
Read moreWe have been there with our children twice. In winter and year after in summer. We were satisfied. It is a nice and cozy guesthouse in a good location - right next to the ski slope and with a great view of Pec pod Sněžkou. The cooking is excellent and as parents we welcomed the big colourful children's playroom next to the dining room and the outdoor children's playground which gave us an opportunity...
