Hotel Saloon, we stayed here as part of our travels through the Czech Republic. We were checked in really quickly and efficiently. The lady on reception was very helpful during the check in process.||The room was a good size double room. Their is plenty of space for clothes storage if you happen to unpack your things from the suitcase lol we stayed for 5 days and then needed to stay a further night and the lady on reception was very helpful and quickly helped us book another nights stay in the hotel. ||The breakfast was very adequate for what we pay for. A good selection of cereals, pastries, bread rolls etc, eggs and sausages (hot dog type). The hotel even let us take some things to our room as one day my wife wasn't feeling very well and would miss breakfast but they let me take a plate up so she could have breakfast and this little gesture made her feel better.||The hotel has a really nice Italian pizzeria attached to it with a nice little Czech pub and a bar too. The staff are so helpful and polite even though they struggle sometimes with us speaking English but have no fear they have English menus lol they understand little English but enough to help you order some food and a drink too lol we highly recommend the pizzas and the pubs ribs "Zebra" lol which we originally thought was zebra haha little translator later we found it was ribs haha||The hotel is located a 5 minute walk to the centre of Zlin. Their is a tesco right near the centre too so you can get some supplies for the room lol ||We recommend this hotel whilst travelling to Zlin for location and affordability and would return here if we came back.||We had one gripe and that was that the curtains were very light so at 6:30'ish we were woken by the sun. We understand that the window is south facing but maybe the hotel could change the curtains for darker ones to allow the guests to wake up later naturally and...
Read moreTraveled to Zlin and booked the Hotel Saloon online after reading reviews. In short, this is a very old hotel with no modern conveniences. Had I know this I would have stayed elsewhere. Described as inexpensive, yes, but I was overcharged 1000 Korunas when we checked in. Another desk clerk and very friendly one noticed the overcharge and returned 1000 in cash. She was tremendous and we thanked her. Bring your own tissues with you as the hotel does not provide them, I guess you use the toilet paper to blow your nose. ||Hung the "make up room sign" on the door knob, was never made up. We asked for new towels. I noticed no other guests staying in the hotel, however when I looked at the mail boxes where the room keys were hung only 3 keys were gone, one of them was ours. Ugh!! Breakfast was ok, don't expect much. Sausage, soft boiled eggs, yogurt, bread, cheese, and very old apples. At least the had 'drip coffee' available, something you don't find readily in Europe.||The room we stayed in was right on the road and traffic noise was constant all day and night with a train track nearby. A positive is there are no noises from other guests because there were none. That said, do your research and find a newer hotel that was not a leftover from the last decade. ||When in Zlin visit the zoo, as there is not much for a tourist to do!!!! Most of the time the wifi worked, but not 100% of the time.||Again, the lady with the long blond hair who worked the desk was very nice and helped us...
Read moreUnexpensive and basic hotel. The rooms are clean; however damaged bedside lamps are unsafe as wires as accessible. The breakfast is standard but fine and opens at 7am; useful if one has to join a meeting starting at 8am already. However… the reception opens at 8am only so the check-out is uneasy. One has to call an external number, wait until somebody shows up…. and if a taxi is waiting for you, you have a problem. Surprising is this constraint is not mentioned when checking in as to allow the invoice gets settled the evening before departure. The movement detector at the second floor does not work so one has to open the room door in a complete darkness, with a key, not with a magnetic card. Not funny ! Overall, very basic and improvements are...
