Penzion U Mikuláše — Hotel in okres Znojmo

I've been in this pension for a week-end stay only (2 nights). It is quite popular with Czechs, so you need to have a reservation well in advance especially during a summer. I think the best room/apartment is "By the Granny Mary" (U Babicky Marie in Czech). It is the only apartment in the ancient Medieval house which has 2 rooms and a bathroom (with a shower only). The other rooms seem to me not so spacious, however it really depends on the standard of accommodation you are used to and what kind of a room you would like opt for. The prices are wonderful without any doubts! I have felt in love with this little cozy pension because of it's special ambiance, original decorations, super roof-top terrace which could be used freely by hosts for socializing, drinking wine in the evenings...etc. The breakfast is simple and nice, you pay for what you order (coffee, juice, bread, ham, cheese and butter for 100CZK in total which is less than 5USD/5EUR). The service at the reception is friendly and kind. The city center of Znojmo is 5 minutes walk. We are very disappointed!!! The pension looks nice from their website so we did a reservation for the room called Pokoj U Dědečka Rudolfa. We booked the room by phone and they confirm us that the reservation was successfully made. Surprisingly the same woman call us afterwards to tell us that it was a problem and that we don't have that room or any other room available for us that day. Well run penzion. Friendly staff. Clean with comfortable beds. The roof top patio and kitchen area is a great plus. Very good breakfast. The only thing I would change is to be able to get coffee or tea before 8:00 am. Some of us wake early and like to have a cup of coffee before the kitchen opens.
