Guesthouse Las Piedras — Hotel in Higüey

I sincerely ask myself how possible is that this guesthouse has such high good review!||Is true the building is nice but nothing else.||||First of all, impossible to find, there is no sign outdoor and also no doorbell. To find it we had to pay locals people to show us which house it was, then we stay about 15min in front of the entrance door because nobody opened us (of course no doorbell)- Location is in middle of nothing and not very safe. No restaurants or bars nearby.||To go to the room there are some steep stairs and with heavy luggage is not easy at all to go upstairs.||The room was totally dark, illumined by some faint light bulbs, NO AIR CONDITIONING, no tv, full of mosquitos, dirty room, hard bed that breaks your back and NEVER SEEN IN ALL MY LIFE (not even in India) NO HOT WATER, I mean that there is not even a hot water tap and not that day was missing!!!! Even in beach bungalow there is hot water. There is no daily cleaning of room and wifi works only outside of the room where you will be eaten by mosquitos.||||We booked the room for two nights but because of all these problems we wanted to stay only one but the owner refused to refund us the second night, so we stayed there just because on the second day we did a tour and we left at 6.30am returned at 8.00 pm.||Breakfast is at 8:00 am, the last day we went at 7:50 am, but they said that it is not possible to have it before 8:00 am, even if the owner was going around in the garden doing nothing.||The final farce is the price 60USD per night for a GUESTHOUSE which worths is only 25 USD and I am generous !!!||Believe me, nearby you will find HOTEL with pool, breakfast, HOT WATER, air conditioning, free wifi, satellite TV and all amenities, located near restaurants, bars and shops at a better...

Lila was a fantastic host who replied to all my questions quickly and was very helpful with any concerns I had. The room was very unique in its design. Very clean and had everything we needed including a mini fridge. The water is not as cold as you may think as it is perfect for the hot conditions. Her house is in a convenient location within Friusa. Walking distance to the grocery store, fast food, night clubs, money exchange, barber, gas station and car/motorcycle rentals. The area is also very safe at night and the locals are very friendly and helpful. Her family is extremely fun to be around. If you stay with Lila it is highly recommended to eat her cooking as she is a fantastic chef and can offer you the most authentic Dominican meal. After moving to a different part of the Dominican we even made the trip back to Lila's place one last time just to spoil ourselves. People staying in resorts do not know what they are missing out on. Ich kann die positiven Bewertungen leider nicht teilen. Aufgrund dieser hatten wir 3 Nächte reserviert. Alleine, es zu finden hat uns reichlich Nerven gekostet. In googlemaps ist das Las Piedras an einer völlig falschen Stelle eingezeichnet (zwar kein Fehler des Hauses aber dennoch einer, der sich sicherlich bereinigen lässt). Nach diversen Telefonaten schickte uns Lila ein Taxi. Der Fahrer wollte uns für weniger als 2 km 10 Dollar abknöpfen- nach einigem Gezeter hat er von uns umgerechnet 6 € bekommen, was immer noch zuviel war. (DAS ist leider auf der ganzen Insel an der Tagesordnung: wird man als Tourist erkannt, wird man ständig abgezockt). Das Zimmer war o.k. allerdings kaum Möglichkeiten, die Kleider abzulegen. Wir packten sie also auf den Kühlschrank und auf den Tisch. Im Bad gab es noch nicht mal Haken/Stangen, um die Handtücher zum Trocknen aufzuhängen. Uns war das Zimmer zu dunkel und zu feucht (was dem vielen Regenn evtl. geschuldet war). Sauber gemacht wurde nicht, der Müll wurde kein einziges Mal geleert, Toilettenpapier erhielten wir auf Nachfrage. Am 2. Tag wollten wir um kurz nach 9.00 Uhr frühstücken - es war nichts eingedeckt und Lila war beim einkaufen. Sie kam zwar kurz danach - dennoch geht es nicht, Frühstückszeiten anzugeben, bei denen dann keiner da ist. Im Zimmer haben wir jeden Tag einer Kakerlake den Garaus gemacht...einmal krabbelte sie auf dem Tisch herum :-(||Es wurde uns ein Moto-Taxi als zuverlässig empfohlen, der uns zum Strand Macao bringen sollte. Sowohl Lila als auch der Fahrer versicherten uns, dass die Fahrt Hin- und Rück 1000 Pesos kosten würde (wohlgemerkt zu dritt auf dem Moped was auf einer Strecke von 12 km alles andere als bequem ist). Kurz vor Macao hatte das Moped einen Platten, so dass wir ca. 2-3 km zu Fuß gehen mussten. Als der Fahrer den Reifen an einer Tankstelle repariert hatte und uns die letzten Meter zum Strand brachte wollten wir eine Uhrzeit für das Abholen ausmachen. Der Fahrer verlangte plötzlich 1000 Pesos (20 €) PRO Strecke! Wir haben ihm zwar 1000 Pesos bezahlt, verzichteten aber auf die Rückfahrt mit ihm. Wir haben sogar noch reichlich von unserem Handy-Guthaben verbraten, um Lila zu bitten, dass sie ihm ausrichten soll, dass er uns nicht abzuholen braucht. Ein Taxi hätte uns - nach handeln - 28 €/pro Strecke gekostet. Zurück sind wir mit Moto-Taxis und Bussen zu zweit für 360 Pesos gekommen.||Auch heisst es, dass es zahlreiche Restaurants in der Nähe gibt. Wenn man sich mit Hähnchen/Würstchen etc. zufrieden gibt, trifft das auch zu. Allerdings haben wir kein Restaurant gefunden, wo wir GUT gegessen haben.||Zum Strand kann man auch nur mit Moto-Taxis fahren. Diesen kann man komplett vergessen - ein AI-Resort am nächsten. Dann lieber nach Macao zum Strand, dort hat man noch weitgehend seine Ruhe.||Nach meiner Ansicht, kann man sich Punta Cana als Individualtourist komplett sparen.
