FOOD WAS GREAT! MY WIFE AND I ARE FROM TEXAS AND HAD BEEN DISSAPOI TED WITH FOOD IN THE RESORT AND BEING CAGED INSIDE THE "resort atmosphere ". WE CHOOSE THIS PLACE AS WE LOVE MEXICAN FOOD AND THE CULTURE. THIS PLACE WILL NOT DISAPPOINT. THE OWNER WAS THERE AND CHECKED ON US SEVERAL TIMES AND GAVE US SUGGESTIONS. BOTH OF OUR DINNERS WERE GREAT. LEAVE THE RESORT AND SEE THE ISLAND AND THE PEOPLE. THAT IS WHAT MAKES THE DOMINICAN AND ANY OTHER PLACE GREAT. Great, GREAT food. The problem is they don't accept credit cards and, though they have a menu, you never know what they will end up charging. For instance, the menu says that quesadillas are $200 pesos, but it doesn't specify that it is for cheese-only quesadillas. Nowhere it says how much it'd be for a chicken quesadilla until you ask for the check and see it costs $280 pesos without the 28% tax, which equals $358 pesos. Hole in the wall Mexican place with tasty food. Recommend by the hotel..has a small bar area at the top of the restaurant and high tables and picnic tables. Food was great..enchiladas, sopes, tacos and all fresh corn/flour tortillas. The Aztex hot stone with chicken and chorizo was the best I have tasted. Very reasonably priced too.
