Las Leñas Café — Restaurant in Higüey

We had a very disappointing experience at this café on the morning of December 31st as a group of 10. This is not the first time we’ve encountered issues here, but we wanted to give it one last opportunity. Unfortunately, it was just as bad, if not worse, than before. Despite being a small place, with only our group and another party of two present, the service was still terrible. The staff didn't pay attention to customers, ignored us, forgot orders, and spent time on their phones. To make things worse, the waitresses were openly arguing among themselves about who would go to our table, which was incredibly unprofessional.

The food service was particularly frustrating for a large group like ours. Orders didn’t come out together, so we had to eat in shifts, three at a time. Several orders were wrong, missing ingredients, or simply unavailable—like juices, which had run out. We ordered a Spanish omelet and waited 30 minutes, only to be told it had been thrown out because it was spoiled. On top of that, they frequently forgot simple items like coffee.

The cleanliness was another major issue. The sofas were dirty, the restroom was filthy, the soap dispenser was broken, and the toilet was rusty.

It’s clear that when the owners are not present, the employees do as they please. With fewer staff members who actually care about their work, this café could perform much better. Unfortunately, we won’t...

BLACK TOURIST DO NOT COME HERE!! I hate to leave this review about the service because I frequent here often. The girls who work here are extremely nice and attentive. I speak very little spanish and there is a language barrier but they are so patient when I order. This one star is for the boss. I would hate to call him a RACIST but it's hard to assume otherwise since I was the only black American he approached with foolishness. Back story, I work remote and sometimes I come here for coffee and to work. I also order rounds of coffee and food and leave tips that are larger than the food and drink price. Today, the owner approached me and said that I cannot sit in the cafe because I ordered only one coffee. Since when is there a price limit or order limit on food and drink purchases? ALSO, there were ONLY FOUR PEOPLE in the cafe. You should've been lucky I brought you that service. Instead of asking me if I would like something else to drink or to order food, you accuse me of stealing wifi!! ! I am a tourist here. Not a pleasant experience. We ordered a bday cake ,the process was stressful and complicated ..paid got a receipt. .when we got there on Saturday they had made a bigger cake despite the fact we picted that particular type because it was a small crowd. My only option was either cut a piece of the cake or pay the difference walking away without it was not an option not only because we had already paid but also because we could not get another one..
