Terrible service. We were so excited to try this place because we love the ones in Santo Domingo. The location itself is gorgeous. We found a quiet little table right next to board walk and then a 2 day nightmare started with the service. On day one we ordered some cocktails and sadly they were not made correctly. I thought they mixed our order up but they insisted that we had the correct order. We decided to play things safe and traded them for beers. The server made sure to make us feel like we had done something bad and when she brought us the beers she gave me one and said " you should test the temperature before I open these, I wouldn't want you to complain that they aren't cold enough and send them back after I open them" . I was a bit schooled but didn't react and asked her kindly to open the beers. She then said " are you sure they are ok?" The rest of that lunch was terrible we felt punished for their error and they ignored us. It took 1 hour before they took out food order and almost another hour to get the food. We were not asked if we wanted another drink and when we paid they bill we waited 30 mins for them to bring the change. Sadly they never did and at this point we were so tired if the abuse we left with out the change. Day two was worse. The bathroom for the restaurant ñ/bar was clogged and over flowing. When I let them know and asked if there was another women's room they had me use the men's bathroom. Again drink and food orders took a long time and when we did get our food we were not given napkins and cutlery. We asked a different person if we could please gets some and he never came back with them. 35 mins after I good was served out sever shows up and asked to take our plates. I told him no because we have no napkins or silverware. He just said oh I guess I forgot and went to get them.
It's very sad that this is how they treat people here. In Santo Domingo the staff is always so kind and we have had great evenings at mosquito...
Read moreThis review is only for the restaurant, precisely their policies and service. On our trip to Playa Bonita Las Terrenas we have been coming to El Mosquito restaurant for 10 days the atmosphere is nice and the food is good. We typically we get a table family of 5, have lunch, enjoy the beach and then we have dinner. Today we decided to come for breakfast and lunch. We first took a table outside but it started to rain as they brought us our breakfast and we moved to a table inside. We had our breakfast and wanted to go to the beach and we were told by the manager that we had to vacate our table because it was only for people eating. We told them that we just had breakfast at 10:30 am and will have lunch later on. The manager was not having it. We told him that today wed July 30 the restaurant is empty, and that plenty of tables were available, I also told him that if it became full and he needed the table before lunchtime we would happily vacate it. He told us again that we needed to move to the beach and come back to the table at lunchtime. We asked to be moved back to our first table outside since the rain had stopped but he continued with the same logic. Instead of making a bigger scene my family and I decided to just leave and go to another place. Now the service part of my review. The service is very slow and some of the staff members are rude and simply do not care much for the guests. Some of the staff members are very friendly and helpful but some others are just awful. Takes a long time to get acknowledged when you take a table, drinks and food take forever even at low capacity at the restaurant. We usually can get past all that but not after today. I doubt that I will ever come back to this place and if you do just be prepared to deal with nasty management and poor service at the restaurant. It s a shame that such a nice place is run by amateurs. Train your staff well and correct the...
Read moreThis is a terrific boutique hotel on Playa Bonita, Las Terrenas. It's right on the beach. The views and sunsets are amazing. As are the staff and the food! The water and beach at Playa Bonita are clean and safe. And the beach is one of the most laid-back places you'll find. ||The El Mosquito "hotelito" only has about 20 rooms and must have about the same number of employees. The staff is wonderful as is the restaurant. I worry when staying at a hotel that is a little off the beaten path or a bit out of town that the hotel restaurant might not be good - have no fears - the restaurant at El Mosquito is outstanding. The chef at El Mosquito is Peruvian. The dishes offered are a great mix of traditional Dominican dishes, plus Peruvian ones like cerviche, cousa, and ahi gallina. Wow. I was impressed. Plus the restaurant offers the typical selection of American offerings you'd expect at any beach hotel such as burgers, pizza and sandwiches. ||Jennifer at the front desk was amazing. As was Mikil the restaurant manager. A shout-out goes to the whole staff. I would recommend this place for couples, families, or solo travelers. The hotel also has a surf school. While the beach at Playa Bonita is pretty tame you can catch some waves (yay!). It was nice to see some little ones learning how to surf while on vacation. That was cool. ||This is just a great, relaxing place. I can't...
