We ended up at this amazing boutique hotel on Playa Bonita after our original lodging in downtown Las Terrenas turned out to be, let’s just say, not what we expected.||||Hotel Atlantis accepted our booking on literally fifteen minutes’ notice on a Monday night. When we arrived, the setting was so beautiful and rates so reasonable we immediately upgraded to Ocean View. After a wonderful swim in the ocean, we sat on our patio and enjoyed the stunning scenery that is Playa Bonita. This area feels every bit like a world-class resort. The lovely grounds with swaying palm trees along the beach and the charming, unique white buildings alternately reminded me of old-world Mediterranean resorts, and in other ways, Kauai. The named rooms (we stayed in “Lima”) and giant door key were cute accents.||||The room was clean and spacious, with a large very comfortable bed, AC unit, a desk, coffee table, large bathroom, and a single sofa bed. Note to fellow senior citizens: we chose a ground floor room to avoid stairs. The tub in this bathroom is tall and steep to climb into. There are also shallow steps in the unit and down to the bathroom.||||Playa Bonita has a paved walkway that winds up and down the beach and through the resort. You will find several excellent restaurants within an easy few minutes’ walk heading east from the hotel.||||The continental breakfast included in the rate was simply amazing. You get coffee, tasty bread, and brioche. To clarify, the eggs and crepes shown were extra. All the hotel staff we met were very helpful and professional. I would definitely...

We've seen almost all the good hotels in Las Terrenas (and stayed at a couple), and Atlantis is just the best. We've gone to some of the best hotels and AirBnB's all over the country, and we always end up comparing to here - and it wins.

If you're looking for a relaxing, charming, genuine, comfortable caribbean experience 10/10 recommend.

First. Las Terrenas is a gem because, while tourism is growing here, it's not a resort town. You feel like you're in a special place that still honors the DR and a Carribbean island feel how it's meant to be - incredible beaches that you can still find empty, sandals, swim suit, beach bungalow, easy going, no extra packing.

It's not a luxury resort town, and you will not find dozens of resort-activities like games and steel drums players or museums (apart from ocean, nature-related excursions, surfing, hiking, etc). Pueblo de los Pescadores has restaurants, gift shops, and a couple bars that are nice to see.

So why does Atlantis win? 1. The staff is awesome. 2. You get what you expect every time. 3. The rooms are comfortable and clean. 4. The restaurant is great. 5. The guests are usually great. 6. The easy-going feel makes you feel calm, at peace, and completely relaxed.

The amenities are basic, but it's right on the ocean and we are able to stay put happily for days. We come here to relax, have quiet, easy going beach time. Keeping in mind the above ^ its the best.

My husband says he feels like it's his...

We had lunch and dinner here several times. Food is really good. Service is good for Las Terrenas, average for international standards. Tonight tough we were really disappointed. My wifes crab salad was not eatable because of the amount of shells in it. We told the waitress and she took away the plate after commenting “it will be very hard to clean it of these shells”. After 20min my wife took the kids to bed and left the table hungry. Another 20min nothing happened and I asked the same girl what the plan is now. Her answer “ah did u want another one” and I told her yes we did, but not anymore. She could now please bring the bill. Surprise surprise the crab salad was on the bill. I confronted her about it and she said “well your wife has eaten parts of it and anyway, no one else complained about this badge of crab salad we made”! I couldn’t believe it because there were huge pieces of shell on the plate. She agreed to remove the salad from the bill “if it makes me feel better” and I was stunned again by this comment. I tried to explain her that her reaction makes me really uncomfortable as a client and she said “Thank you for the advice but I’ve been here since 8am and my head is exploding”. My head nearly exploded too but I could keep calm. It is very sad that they are not taught by management how to treat customers… she is a nice local girl with potential as she speaks good English but with this attitude she will have it tough outside...

Amazing French paradise in the caribbean. it is small and quaint and looks like a village in Greece. The rooms are simple but comfortable and are all seconds away from the beach. The restaurant is the best part of the hotel with fresh fish coming straight from the fishermen who park their boat on the beach infront of the hotel every morning. The hotel has no pool because it is not needed, you wont miss it since the atlantic ocean is seconds away from the rooms. The staff is great and very friendly, they will treat you like a king.

Review for the restaurant. Really good restaurant, a little overpriced but really nice. The chef cooks the dishes very well. It was my friend's birthday and I asked them to bring a cake with a candle as a surprise which they did. Really nice of them. The hotel seems really comfortable as well. Thanks for everything:)
