First of all this is not a resort but a small hotel with approximately 60 rooms, the grounds are nice and basic, pool is clean and has comfortable lounge chairs, the rooms are open and spacious th bedding is very hard it's basically a thin mattress on a wood base . The bathroom is small and older but everything is super clean and well maintained. Staff is friendly and helpful but very basic services. Breakfast is bread eggs fruits and juice coffee and cereal very basic but OK. The restaurant has good food and a basic menu, if you want great food the Atlantis hotel next door has a great beach restaurant. The property faces one of the best beaches in the world, fun to walk on the boardwalk or stroll down the beach. There are surfboards to rent on the beach but currents can be tricky right In front best to swim to the right side of th resort in calmer waters. This hotel is about 10 mins from the downtown of Las Terrenas so if you don't have transportation you are stuck at the hotel with only beach activity and that's it. There are moto taxis you can call or rent a small quad to go around town. You can't beat the price for what you get its the best place to just relax and enjoy some time off will...
Read moreThis hotel has a lovely setting and it looks nice until you look closely. WiFi only sporadically by the desk. No hot water, if you complain their reply is that hot water is solar and to let it run for 15 minutes. That solution doesn’t work (3 nights of icy cold showers). The rooms are never clean or towels changed during your stay. The unsafe and dangerous part is that the showers have neither safety threads or a mat. I am 73 years old and luckily didn’t break a bone or hip. Had numerous contusions to show. Told the owner and front desk, both promised a mat which was never delivered. Contacted Expedia and told them of the problem and even posted photographs of my bruises. I know no one is going to do anything about the problem but if these review gives information to another senior they might think twice about staying there and...
Read moreWe had a horrendous experience at this hotel. Be aware that:
They do not accept credit cards. The pool is closed. The bar is closed. The restaurant is closed. The landscaping is not being maintained. Music was blaring from neighboring restaurant until about 4:00 a.m. Wireless internet only works at the lobby. It is not usable in the rooms. (And it only barely works in the lobby.) The property feels abandoned, almost apocalyptic.
We were the only people there, and we checked out early. I was required to pre-pay for the week, and now I am having trouble getting them to return the unused portion of what I paid for the week.
The hotel should be closed for renovations and then reopen instead of trying to pretend to be open during the...
