My wife and I just returned from our 2nd visit to Iguana and we can't recommend it enough. Annette is so generous with anything that will help make your stay more comfortable. We bought groceries in town and used Annette's grill to cook our dinner. We had a small kitchen and Annette was happy to help us order food to be delivered one night. ||||Our cottage included a queen sized bed, bathroom with separate room for the toilet and a walk-in shower with plenty of hot water. Fresh flowers were in our bathroom most days and the towels were exchanged upon request. Two beach towels were also provided along with bottled water each day. There is additionally a cooler to refill your bottled water throughout your visit. ||||Iguana is a short 5-7 minute walk from Playa Las Ballenas. My wife and I visited Coson, Playa Bonita, and Portillo. While all those beaches are spectacular and well worth the visit, the beach right in front of Annette's has the best snorkeling that we encountered. We saw butterfly fish, and multiple blue tangs around the coral reef. Make sure you snorkel on a day where the weather is clear and sunny. We tried one day after it rained, but the waves were choppy and it had stirred up the sand making it difficult to see. ||||Annette also helped us when the quad (ATV) we rented wouldn't start. She drove into town so that the outfitter could return us another quad to use. She was quick to recommend a guide—Manzana—to use at Limon to see the waterfalls and helped with directions to Playa Bonita. ||||Tips on petting Quiche: Quiche is a super sweet goofball of a dog that likes to play, especially with her mouth. She will roll over and show you her belly. The trick is to not pet her when she's full of energy. Hold your hand in a fist above her head until she calms down, then you can pet her nonstop. She's really fun. ||||Iguana is super safe with security on site every night after sundown. We never felt unsafe, even when walking back at night. ||||We enjoyed the housekeeping and delicious and HUGE breakfasts provided by Lily and Wendy each morning. We would package the leftover fruit, bread, ham, cheese, and avocado for beach snacks later in the day. Breakfast also included passion fruit—chinola en español. We loved them so much that Annette brought us extra to take with us. ||||Iguana is situated on the western end of Las Terrenas which we really appreciated as it's away from the hustle and bustle of the main town. No noise issues from motoconchos. You will need to ride motoconchos to get into town as a walk to Pueblo de los Pescadores is about a 20 min walk. Or do what we did a rent an ATV ($50/day) or scooter ($25/day) for a few days.||||Iguana is such a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. The wifi signal is a bit weak in the cottages, but other than that, it was a perfect respite from NYC life. We can't wait to return a 3rd and 4th time and are already talking about retiring in Las Terrenas. ||||Thank...
Read moreWe stayed for a week at Iguana Hotel and it was perfect. The rooms are simple, cool and comfortable with a cute kitchen and porch area. The breakfast is amazing, loads of fresh fruit, homemade jams, local honey and enough bread that we made sandwiches to take to the beach. Your host is Annette, who is so kind, helpful and genuine - she recommended some great locations and organised our transport which was brilliant without being pushy or making any kind of profit for herself. ||The beach at the end of the driveway is really beautiful, if you go left it's always quiet, plus there are a couple of beach bars if you go right. We walked to the town a few times, it's a lovely walk down the beach (15-20 mins). On the way back at night we got motorbike taxis which is always fun and cheap. Las Terrenas is an interesting and vibrant place - lots of restaurants and shops. ||Our tip is Cosson beach - Annette will help you get there. Stunning beach, you can surf there and the local restaurant Loui's...
Read moreI cannot say enough about The Iguana. If you like a smaller venue, with lush vegetation, a hostess that will do anything to make your stay in Las Terrenas the best, and have very comfortable living accomoaations-this is your place. It is a short walk to the best beach but far enough away from the noise of the main road and close enough to town for a pleasurable walk or ride on one of the many scooters. This is our 3rd time to stay at The Iguana and we plan to go back again and again. Annette is so welcoming and can help with anything you need-the best restaurants. ordering food so you don't have to go out each night, planning excursions, and generally feeling comfortable in your new surroundings. By the way, the breakfast that is included is amazing-a big plate of fresh fruit, eggs any style, the best bread, avocado, pancakes, and anything else you rest. I look forward to this meal that holds you throughout the day even...
