Einfach geil! Geht bitte hin, wunderbares Essen!
We spent an entire week at Casa Delfin and went to Empanadas y mas for five dinners. The food is excellente, directly fresh from the sea delivered every day, yes I saw it by myself! We had everytime like 6-8 empanadas as a starter - for only two people 😄 (the best one with mango and gorgonzola) and in addition we tried the ceviche, dorade sashimi, croquetas de cancrejo (frist time with delicious couscous and second time served with rice), pulpo al ajillo and the chocolate brownies. I ate a lot of pulpo in my life, but I swear, this one was something extrasensorial, the softness just blew my mind away. Pepe is an amazing chef, surely helped by his super friendly wife. This is a very small family business, there are only two people cooking, serving, preparing drinks and cleaning. So if you are on a rush, just look for another place. Empanadas y mas is literally a hole in the wall with a lot of charme and magic. The restaurant is small and they are everyday full, so I reccomend to make a reservation per whatsapp one/two days before. Since the food is always fresh and bought at the same day, trust the both if they say there are no place for more guests! This is surely the best food we have ever had during our holiday in the Dominican Republic. And the prices are much more affordable as other restaurants. Really a magic authentic place. BRAVO! We will miss...
Read moreWhat a wonderful find and so affordable. We spent on dinner water and juice and a el presidente what we would spend on two drinks at a larger flying insect restaurant. You must have a reservation. Use WhatsApp or stop in to make one This is a very small family run business. They don’t have the ability to do high volume fast. The food was amazing and so was the service. The owner came out with his daughter to hand us the menu and go over the specials. The juice was fresh and the empanadas were SO good. The dough was light and fluffy not oily and the fillings were flavorful. He obviously takes pride in his food. They gave us a sauce that was also very good but the empenadas really didn’t need it they were very good either way. Two to three are enough to fill the average person. The owners older of the two daughters was taking order's, she is obviously learning the family business. She was wonderful and was so excited to speak English. She did an amazing job. We will be back. I had read some negative reviews that did not seem justified. Their livelihood relays on this and I can see if you want to go in and eat one empanada each and sit why they would want you to take it to go. They don’t have a lot of seating and if someone doesn’t understand that then i would not want the at my establishment either. Thank you very much for a wonderful evening and...
Read moreOur stomachs were not ready for this experiance even though we were 5 days in DR and ate all kind of food. Got explosive bowels for 3 days. Empanadas could be dried out from oil by placing them on a paper towel for a moment (they are very oily). Service experience is mixed, there are two waitresses, younger one is nice the other one is a bit 'rude'. Maybe not rude, but tired and is not happy if your order is small. Food is nothing special, average (maybe we are spoiled by good kitchen) but we didn't find any good places in DR whatsoever. From management perspective: reservation before hand is mandatory... Even though place is half empty and potential passing by clients are turned down. Never saw this anywhere, even if all tables are booked, you can squeeze some clients if they finish earlier than reservation time comes. On a better note the atmosphere is good, calm.
To summarize 2/10: food is average (if you have bad immune system reconsider your visit here), service is semibad (without younger waitresses good vibes it would be very bad), atmosphere is...
