We had the great fortune of stumbling upon Restaurante Plaza Delfin on a quiet Sunday night during a recent visit to Las Terranas. Led by the talented owner and chef, Issac, this dining experience exceeded all expectations and left an indelible mark on my gastronomic memory.
From the moment I stepped foot into Restaurante Plaza Delfin, I was captivated by its inviting and intimate atmosphere. The warm and friendly ambiance, combined with tasteful decor, created the perfect setting for an extraordinary evening. Issac, the heart and soul of this establishment, exuded hospitality and dedication in every aspect of his craft.
The menu at Restaurante Plaza Delfin boasts an impressive array of culinary delights, but it was the handmade pastas that truly stole the show. Each plate showcased the mastery of Issac's artistry, as he skillfully combined flavors and textures to create pasta dishes that were nothing short of heavenly. From delicate ravioli to perfectly al dente tagliatelle, every bite was a revelation.
One particular highlight of my dining experience was the grilled lionfish, a dish that showcased Issac's ability to transform simple ingredients into a culinary masterpiece. The lionfish was flawlessly prepared, tender and succulent. It was a true symphony of flavors that left me longing for more.
However, it is not only Issac's culinary prowess that sets Restaurante Plaza Delfin apart; his hospitality and genuine warmth were equally exceptional. As both proprietor and chef, Issac effortlessly played the role of the consummate host, making us feel like honored guests throughout the entire evening. His attention to detail, coupled with his genuine passion for food and hospitality, created an experience that was nothing short of unforgettable.
I firmly believe that a visit to Las Terrenas would be incomplete without dining at Restaurante Plaza Delfin. Issac's talent, creativity, and dedication to his craft shine through in every aspect of the dining experience. Whether you are a seasoned food enthusiast or simply seeking a remarkable culinary adventure, this is the place to be.

Read moreThere isn't a more lovely restaurant in all of Las Terrenas. The food tastes, quite literally, flawless. I'm going to list the faults of this place, but please understand - the food is just so wonderful, and the people that run Plaza Delfin so charming and dedicated to their craft that nothing can convince me to not give this restaurant five stars. For context, I've been to Restaurante Plaza Delfin twice, once with my girlfriend (who, like me, has lived in the DR previously, and has visited Las Terrenas on multiple occasions) in September of 2019 and again with my friends, both American first-time-visitors to the DR in February 2020.
That being said, if you go to Plaza Delfin, expect and embrace the following things beforehand: Service can be slow. Give them a break, two people are juggling the restaurant by themselves, and what they produce is more important than your impatience. You might have to stand in the entrance for a little bit while they're back in the kitchen. You might have to wait for a while as they create and cook your food, especially if you're a big party. The portions can feel "not big", as in slightly smaller than most plates you might get in Las Terrenas. My friends and I were admittedly not "filled up" completely, but that doesn't mean we walked away from Plaza Delfin unsatisfied. The taste of every plate of food we tried was just... awe-inspiring. There are a few animals that wander in and might beg you for attention; a few adorable-if-not-demanding cats, a few relaxed but quick-to-bark-at-motos dogs. They're remarkably clean for animals, given the country you're in, and didn't bother me. A cat was, at one point, playing with my shoelaces.
PS. If you want the Nigerian food, you must contact the chef the day before. He needs time to accumulate the...
Read moreRestaurante Plaza Delfin is the kind of place you stumble upon and immediately wish you'd known about sooner. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with a cozy, inviting atmosphere—dimly lit, with soft music and wooden furniture that give the restaurant a rustic charm. The ambiance feels like a comforting hug, balancing elegance with a sense of home.
The menu at Restaurante Plaza Delfin is a perfect reflection of its intimate setting: it’s not overly complicated, but every dish feels thoughtfully crafted, as though it’s been perfected over time. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty steak or an amazing homemade pasta, Gnocchi or seafood, there’s something for everyone.
I ordered the fried whole fish, which was cooked to perfection, with white rice and seasonal vegetables, bursting with flavors that speak of fresh, local ingredients. And for dessert? The Chocolate Role is a must-try: rich in flavor and just the right amount of sweetness.
But what truly sets this place apart is its owner, Isaac. A passionate chef and attentive host, Isaac brings a personal touch to every aspect of the dining experience. You can tell he’s dedicated to providing not just a meal, but an experience. His warm presence is felt throughout the restaurant—whether it’s stopping by tables to chat or making sure every dish comes out just right, Isaac’s commitment to quality and service is evident. It’s clear that he cares deeply about the food he serves and the guests who walk through his door.
