We didn't stay at the hotel but had dinner at the restaurant. The food was spectacular, the service was professional and friendly, and the place has a fun and trendy atmosphere. The food was the high point though - we had mouthwatering langoustines on the grill (served with finger bowls, so attentive to detail!), a baked, melted camambert, the dorado ceviche, the tuna tataki and the grilled octopus. The kitchen also sent us a couple of special treats - a lovely, fragrant carrot salad with plump raisins and some briny, tangy, marinated sardines that were such a delicacy and absolutely lovely. To top it off, we had the coconut mojito, super refreshing. One of the best places we've eaten at yet in the DR. Also, very family friendly. Final point, and one that we really appreciated - even though we were not having a tasting menu, the staff was careful to serve the meal in courses (and not rush it all out at once) allowing us to fully appreciate all the dishes. Plus, family friendly. :)

We booked by phone (using our UK VoIP number on my mobile) then went to the restaurant that evening. We had diaquiris then a glass of red wine. After the amuses bouche we had and shared fish skewers and a steak. My half of the steak was very grislty, hard work, hence the loss of a star. The atmosphere in the restaurant is great, quite buzzy, and we got chatting to a French couple from Aix on the adjacent table, with a mixture of French and English. We saw them again the next day at Playita. Not cheap but a good evening - would have been 5* with a better piece of steak.

To all volunteers that might be interested: Sabine was the first ever host to block me and for no reason at all. You can check the screenshot. It was just simply rude the way she treated me from the very beginning and that connects to the way French people are and how they see us Latinos: they move to our places, profit over us and disrespect us; and they are not far from being racist too. I strongly recommend supporting businesses run by locals and minorities and avoid giving your money and time for people that cultivate the type of colonizer mentality.

I had an excellent stay at BDM Playita during my visit to Las Galeras for two nights. The hotel is beautiful and peaceful, with a spacious and very clean bedroom, a comfortable bathroom, and great amenities.

The hosts were great – super welcoming and very friendly. They provided us with all the local recommendations and tips on how to get to the best beaches in the area.

The entire hotel has a great vibe, making it a wonderful place to relax. Although we opted for the hotel-only option, the breakfast looked great and we’ll definitely try it next time. A huge plus is the on-site restaurant – the food was fantastic and undoubtedly the best in town.

Overall, BDM La Playita is an amazing hotel that I highly recommend!! Thank you girls for making Las Galeras a...

We had dinner yesterday and it was really nice. I love the vibe of the place. Also they played a variety of 90’s music which was great. The food was really good. My kid ate up his grilled chicken. We had shrimp and tuna. Very nicely grilled and not over cooked. Our dinner came with sides and a small salad. The salad was refreshing and simple. Order the coconut rice - it was really unique. They toasted the coconut flakes and made the rice. It was fragrant yet hearty. As for the drinks? Yes! It was wonderful and unlike a couple places - they did not skimp on the alcohol. We ordered seconds on the caipirinha. If you are scared of tourist traps - just come here, get a nice...
