KGB - Kitchen, Galley, Bistro — Restaurant in Santiago de los Caballeros

Visited this location for a second time within a two year lapse. I was very excited to invite friends based on my last experience, but the service did not hold up to the standard of the rating of this restaurant. For starters, we could not identify a hostess and sat ourselves down after seeking an employee. After seating, the first server took 15 to 20 minutes to approach us- there was never a inquiry for water. After taking our order, multiple serves came to drop off of our food (not all plates served together). During our meal There was never a meal check in, only swapping silverware after eating appetizers. The food was certainly good- no complains there. But the level of entitlement from the staff definitely tainted our experience. After eating, we asked for coffee, and the server was extremely rude. We tried to clarify our order, the waiter’s response was almost as if he was annoyed. After coffee we literally waited more than 30 minutes for someone to follow up, not until we complained. While we understand that there may have been a shift swap there should have been better communication among the staff. Great food but definitely an uncomfortable environment and will not recommend to anyone...

The best part of this restaurant is their (regular or american) Cappuccino. Im not a coffee drinker but I so loved it (its sweet). With that being said, their food is good. Their ceviche as an appetizer is big enough to have it as the entree with any other sides and its delicious. It was acidic, spicy, sweet, good stuff. We were not a fan of the pork dumpling- too salty and “drowned” in soy sauce based liquid. Their “pork filet (?)” was not that great. Drinks like Old Fashion shouldn’t be that sweet. Ambience is really nice.

The surprise to me was when we arrived we were nicely welcomed and service was very attentive but post ordering our food, almost all the girls were nowhere to be seen. Either they went to lunch or they were done for the day (around 5pm). We had to waive to get somebody else’s attention to get another drink, to order dessert, etc. Our initial waitress never came back and we didn’t get any notice somebody else will be taking care of us and there were about 4 occupied tables including us in the entire restaurant. awkward. I would’ve given 3 stars but their coffee deserves a 4.
