Hostal Villamil — Hotel in Parroquia Puerto Villamil

We stayed here for the 3 nights we were on Isabela. We asked for pier pick up and would recommend doing so. |The accommodations are hosted by an older Spanish speaking couple. While we spoke no Spanish and they spoke no English, we were able to communicate well enough. The ‘father’ is friendly and tries to help however he can. |The bed was the largest we had thus far in Ecuador. The room was spotless. My only complaint was that hot water was iffy. I did relay that to the couple and somehow the situation got fixed. |It is close to many eateries and tour agencies. The beach is 2 blocks away. If you can get this place for a decent price it’s a great little place to stay. The rooms are a decent size, very clean, the beds are comfortable and they use block out curtains. The manager Enrique Gil Ochoa was very helpful and attentive. The hostal is also in a good location, a quick walk from the beach and Main Street. Downside was that the shower had no hot water, the family who worked there were fairly loud from about 7:30am onwards, which is fine if you aren’t big on sleeping in. Also the older gentleman who works there is very insistent about turning the aircon off every time you leave. Good for the environment and their power budget, but the rooms heat up quickly. Das ältere Paar, das das Hostel führt, wunderte sich bei meiner Ankunft über den Preis, zu dem ich über Booking gebucht hatte. Es stellte sich heraus, dass ich versehentlich ein Zimmer für zwei Personen statt mich allein gebucht hatte. Das Paar weigerte sich daraufhin, den vollen Preis anzunehmen und so bezahlte ich weniger (sic!). Dennoch bekam ich ein großes Zimmer mit einem Doppelbett und zwei weiteren Einzelbetten sowie privatem Bad. Das Zimmer war sauber und geräumig. Das heiße Wasser in der großen Dusche funktionierte einwandfrei. Die Betten waren bequem. |Als ich das Paar nach einer Möglichkeit fragte, meine Wäsche waschen zu lassen, packte die Hausherrin kurzum meine Wäsche in die Waschmaschine des Hotels. Bezahlen durfte ich dafür nichts und auch selbst aufhängen durfte ich meine Wäsche nicht ('Sie haben Urlaub!'). Kurzum, ich fühlte mich wie bei meinen Großeltern! Wie wunderbar :) Da ich nur sehr wenig Spanisch spreche und das Paar kein Englisch spricht, war die Kommunikation leider nicht gut möglich, aber man verstand sich trotzdem mit Hand und Fuß. Das Paar war wirklich überaus freundlich und versuchte, alles möglich zu machen. Als ich am letzten Tag im Innenhof auf die Abfahrt zur Fähre wartete, brachte der Herbergsvater mir sogar noch ein Kissen. Einfach niedlich. |Das Hostel ist ca. 15 Minuten zu Fuß vom Fähranleger gelegen, ein Taxi kostet 2 Dollar. Es liegt direkt am Ort, in weniger als 2 Blöcken ist man bei den Restaurants, Reiseagenturen etc. Zu den Flamingos, dem Schildkrötenzentrum und der Wall of Tears ist es am westlichen Ortsausgang ideal gelegen. |Das einzige, was man negativ anmerken könnte, ist dass das Hostel nicht im ästhetischen Sinne schön ist.
