The location was great. In a quiet neighborhood about 15 minutes from the airport (~$8 for a taxi they set up). The property is lovely. Lots of plants , flowers, and visiting birds. The staff was very nice. We are vegan and they were able to have a suitable breakfast for us. No plant-based milk, but I was expecting it. The room was clean and large enough. I didn’t notice a thermostat, but we didn’t need it as it was comfortable. The bed was an issue. While it was comfortable, it made a lot of noise every time I adjusted my weight. This was an issue because I roll around a lot in my sleep, which woke me up all night. My other issue was the shower head. While the pressure and temperature were great, there were wires connecting to the shower head that were pretty exposed. The wires were connected with electrical tape and no visible connectors. It was a little unsettling so we took very quick showers. (I wish I took pictures of it). I booked on booking.com and thought I got a great price, but apparently I paid for one person, not two, so the price doubled. I want to give 3 stars, but the location, service, and beauty of the property...
Read moreI needed a place to stay for the night between flying into Quito and then flying out to the Galapagos the next morning. I wanted to stay someplace close to the airport, so that I could sleep as much as possible before starting the next travel leg of my trip. This was a 10-15 minute ride from the airport. Staff was very helpful, including unlocking the bathroom door for me that I discovered was locked shut. The room was very simple, small bathroom. (think Motel 8 style for those from the US--not fancy!) Not the softest bed I've slept in, but a quiet night sleep and a hot shower was all I desired. Breakfast was very simple the next morning--slice of watermelon, a roll, and coffee--nice chatting with other American tourists. Staff was able to arrange a taxi to the airport (cost $5; my taxi the night before to the hotel had been $10--not sure why the price difference for the distance). I found it essential to have conversational Spanish for communicating with the front desk staff--English seemed limited. Overall, a great place for the night--a very friendly and helpful staff started off my first...
Read moreDue to anunexpectedl change of plans, we found ourselves between flights at Quito's Airport, with 10 hours to spare.||We went to the Tourist Information Desk in the Airport, and Hostal El Park was recommended, very close by. Our taxi each way was $10.||||Once again in Ecuador, this property, too, is unique.||||From the walled street entry, you come into a surprisingly, to me, anyway, open area.||The property seems to be a conglomeration of small buildings. There is much open sky between them, and covered walkways as well. There were numerous outdoor, sheltered seating areas. Most amazingly, the owner has made a fabulous garden out of the outside areas.||||Rooms here seem to be quite varied, some in buildings, some opening off courtyards.||Our room was comfortable. To our surprise, we did take showers and naps.||Although there is no restaurant on site, it seems you can order anything to eat.||We did, and it was quickly delivered to the accommodating dining room.||||I would recommend Hostal El Parque to anyone needing to stay close to...
