I stayed between flights through Quito. I set up the airport transfers with the hotel ahead of time. Note to travelers: the $10 from the airport is the same if you take a taxi yourself of have the hotel take care of it ( and they will know where they are going if the hotel does it). Unlike most of Ecuador, the airport taxi in Quito is always expensive. I rented one of the cabanas- think large wood shed with a bedroom and private bathroom. It was very clean and had plenty of towels. The bathroom had an unlimited in line electric hot water heater, so hot showers. The wifi worked excellently. I don't know about the cable, as I wasn't interested enough to figure it out. The staff's English is limited, but they are friendly. There was a space heater in my quarters that was started on my arrival. It was chilly to start, but I had to get up in the night to turn it down. The breakfast was good. All of my transfers were timely. I recommend that you bring a paper copy of your reservation so that there is no confusion (especially if you got a special on-line rate). I arrived after midnight, and the night person spoke no English. My Spanish is fair, but a hard copy is...
Read moreWe booked this hotel after the recommendation of another hotel and tour guide to stay closer to the airport. From the moment we tried to get ahold of them we were treated horribly. We had planned to land during the civil unrest and therefore were very understanding but wanted to be sure that we would be able to get their offered 24 hour airport transfer. The night of our flight my husband and I were hung up on multiple times. Our flight then was delayed to the next day but no one would answer the phone or my emails. We tried multiple times for the next three days to get ahold of them but were unable. Additionally given the fact that they were unresponsive we requested a refund and they would not even respond. They finally told hotels.com they refused with no reasoning. Everyone else we have dealt with has been absolutely wonderful and therefore I recommend booking somewhere else so that you do not experience a similar situation. If someone is willing to take advantage here I am sure they are in many...
Read moreBased on the reviews I read, I expected a clean, simple, well-laid-out accommodation. But instead I felt it was not clean, and poorly laid out (though it was, in fact, quite simple). My room was in the main building, right next to the dining room. I arrived late at night and they were kind enough to arrange a $10 shuttle from the airport for me. But the bathroom had a giant step down to get to it, and, since most of it was rough concrete, I didn't feel like it could truly be cleaned. Since I only slept about 4 hours, I can't vouch for the comfort of the bed, though it wasn't uncomfortable. The rough wood timbers in the ceiling looked like they could be quite dusty, but I didn't climb up there to verify. I would put this in the category of "glamping" because it seemed to be one step up...
