Hotel Residencial El Viajero — Hotel in Tababela

Please do not give money to the "hotelier" before he shows you the room you have reserved. He tried to convince us that I booked a single room when I booked a "Mountain view triple room" with 1 twin bed and 1 full bed on Booking.com. After a horrible debate where he pretended not to understand English enough and keep pointing on his computer, we got into the smallest room in the world with 2 single beds. The room was really small and dark. The window was covered by a broken screen and could not be closed before the screen was removed. There was a lot of traffic noise at night. Hotel Residencial el Viajero more than met our needs for a clean, safe hotel close to the Quito Airport with shuttle service for an evening arrival followed by a super early morning departure. Our host was in the arrivals area holding a card with our name when our flight arrived, even though our flight was several hours late, and we joined a small group of students and teachers also staying at the hotel on the short shuttle ride to the hotel. Our small room was clean and comfortable, with a hot shower, and the next morning our wake-up call was right on time as was our 5:30 am shuttle to the airport (reasonable fee). If staying near the airport this is def one of the better places. Its a nice clean place, owners don't speak English but are very nice and helpful. They have a beautiful garden and animals out back. We had a front room and the trucks ran all night he said they stopped at 10-11pm but they did not and it was very loud and hard to sleep. They are a few doors down from a truck place for the airport. So not sure what its like at the back but must be better. The breakfast was good and there is a family owned restaurant 2 doors down and then another restaurant at the end of the street....
