The hotel isn't luxurious and we didn't expect it to be a 5 star lux hotel obv, we had read the reviews, however, we didn't think that it would be this bad especially for a hotel that is ascending to 4 stars.
We paid a lot of money to our agency and we were lured into this hotel, saying that we will be given a nice family room, sphinx and king tut are the same, it's very clean etc.
I want to start with the good stuff.
I don't have complaints about the food, it was decent, although we were given nearly the same things everyday, it was okay for a nearly 4 star hotel. indeed, the fact is, especially the desserts were super delicious.
The animation team at nights did their job perfectly, it was an escape from our depression in the hotel, special Thanks to their team, Maksimo and the others, you never failed to make us laugh, great job!!
The sea was pretty near and it was nice, we also didn't have to walk a lot to get to the city's central mall. The location of the hotel is comfortable.
And also SPECIAL SPECIAL SPECIALLLL THANKS TO MS. MAYA. she helped us a lot during our stay, she changed our room from king tut to sphinx. If we hadn't met her, we would be rotting away on our holiday in a not so clean room. THANK YOU. She is so Kind. She didn't hesitate to help us at all. We were blessed by her kind a bright aura, truly, thanks a lot.
And so Here are the stuff that need to be improved.
When we first arrived, things seemed to be okay from the first glance, it "looked" clean, it felt okay. Then, we went to reception to check in. The guy working in the reception was a bit unmannered, he complained about the customers and cursed people, including his job for countless times in Arabic, and he, in fact, hadn't realised that we knew Arabic.
We were then given our room keys in king tut and headed there. Once we opened the door, it was a nightmare. The smell was horrible, the bed sheets were dirty, and probably hadn't been washed for the past 10 decades, there were stains all over the bed sheets. S t a i n s... The furniture was also old. Since There are 3 members in our family, we needed one more bed for me. They had given us a room, suited For only 2 people. They said the bed would be adjusted. They brought the bed. It was another nightmare. I don't want to describe how unhigienic the room was.
We went back to reception and asked for another room, from the man who left not so great of an impression on us. He was literally angry at life itself and was getting his anger out on people. Anyways, we asked for a different room, he angrily gave us different keys, we went to see the room before confirming and signing for it, again, nothing changed, everything was the same except it was on a different floor.
We went back and asked for a cleaner room at least, with clean sheets. The man, annoyed from our complaint, gave us a room on the 3rd floor. He was was literally cursing us in Arabic, but he was looking to a different direction, as if he was saying something completely different and not connected to us at all. He also added that if we come to change the room again, we will have to pay more/extra to get a "better room".
Somehow we got used to our room and bought our own bed sheets.
Then, We went to eat, we looked at the plates, and they were not washed very well, previous generations' meals could be seen if one looked hard enough.
Not only this, We personally, unfortunately, tragically, saw how they washed the dishes without a soap. Just their hand went in + a bit water, that's it.
I mean yeah, you know, we were aware that it wasn't a 12 star hotel in a perfect condition, but at least there should be some basic hygiene and some things need to correspond to basic human needs. Besides the service was not so great, employees will not do their job, unless you pay them extra, unless you give them tips every single day.
Overall I believe that if some of the workers change, the hygiene and cleanliness improves, if everything is cleaned well, and maybe furniture gets replaced, it will be a decent solid...
Read moreSo we have been to Egypt and stayed in makadi bay before but we’re looking for something more central and a bit more going on. |It was perfect location for us. A few minutes from the marina and the local taxi man at the security desk was great and didn’t over charge at all!!! He would take us and pick us up as soon as we called him. |The shops don’t really hassle you and the tour guides and sellers at the beach take no for an answer first time and don’t keep hassling which was great. |The staff were all lovely and helpful and all work so hard. |Sunbeds are in demand but the staff at the beach will do their very best to find you free beds and accommodate you. |The beach is fantastic with great fish for snorkelling. We spent every day down there. Towels are easily collected at the hut with your towel cards and taken back when finished. All very clean and generous size. |The food was good. Pizza every day at the beach which all the kids seemed to love, the al a carte restaurant was a fixed 3 course but was absolutely delicious! |The main restaurant can get extremely hectic at times which is off putting but again the staff try their best to find you a table. Lots of different choices at every meal time and kept well stocked. |We got moved over to the sphinx hotel as we asked for a balcony as not all rooms have them. They did this with no extra charge. Check in was quick and easy and we were shown to our room. |The room was spacious and clean, big shower. We were disappointed that you don’t get tea or coffee supplied in the room but it wasn’t the end of the world as we went to the mall and bought some. |The beds were big and comfy, air conditioning was great. |We met the owner of the hotel at the beach on the last day. Very pleasant who wanted to hear how our stay was and if there was any feedback on what could be improved. Was lovely to see him show an interest in what guests like. |We did late checkout until 5pm and paid £20 for the 2 of us. Was quick and easy. |Reception is welcoming and clean and the public toilets were always spotless. |The drinks could possibly have been a bit better? Very limited drinks that were included. You could purchase cocktails and beer of branded names. So if you like your drink it’s maybe not for you? |The entertainment team work very hard. The daytime aqua aerobics gets busy and makes a good vibe round the beach. |We didn’t spend any time around the pool as we loved the beach so much but there is a swim up bar. It is only a small area compared to other hotels we have stayed in so sunbeds are very limited. |I got an upset stomach on the first day which was nothing to do with the hotel. I went to the pharmacy there and got some antidal which was very reasonably priced at £3 for 24 tablets. It sorted me out after just 2 tablets. My partner ate more varied food and didn’t get ill at all. We also bought a few bits from the hotel shops and all seem reasonably priced for hotel shops. Especially the one by the barbers and diving shop. |If you are looking for 5 star luxury this isn’t the hotel for you. What it is is a great middle of the road hotel that is great value for money. It is in a great location for us and we would definitely return and stay again! You make your holiday what it is and I honestly don’t understand why some have such negative reviews on the hotel. |Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so wonderful. We appreciate your hard work!!! We love Egypt it is a beautiful country with beautiful people and we can’t wait...
Read moreThe hotel definitely is not 4* more 3. The hotel is very tired and in need of a good overall beds, air con, furniture, ironing in the rooms, tea and coffee making in the rooms (theres a kettle and nothing else) an added bonus a fridge that you could actually use and not get charged fantastic and definitely free wifi in the rooms. Wifi can only be got in the reception and only lasts a couple of minutes. Overall cleanliness was excellent and cleaned every day throughly. When I go abroad I like to eat the food of the country and after explaining this the staff bent over backwards to help. The shops on site need to let you browse more rather than trying to sell you everything. I can't comment on the alcohol as I dont drink but Gregus (I think that is spelt wrong sorry Gregus) was such a lovely fantastic lad that made lovely milkshakes and non alcoholic drinks for my sister and me. Now the staff. I can safely say I have been on holiday a few times and never in all the places have I been met by such warm friendly staff they could not do enough for us. They are so welcoming and approachable. The staff definitely made the hotel no doubt about it. They all need a pay rise and to work fewer hours. They absolutely love English people and all they want to do is have the chance to speak to you. I would like to say in no particular order has they were all fantastic but special thanks to Ahmed (American speaking accent) on reception your help was invaluable and you are such a warm genuine gentleman. Thank you. Mohamad ( I forgot his surname but he is a white shirt employee) in the sunset restaurant for your kindness and attentive service when we ate there and for the heartfelt lunch you delivered for myself and my sister when she was I'll. Thank you so much. To Hassan on the pool bar that very quickly learnt how to make a beautiful cup of English tea which was always waiting for me and my sister when we decided to stop lazing by the pool. I will miss your smile every morning. Last but not least Mohammed floor 5 attendant what can I say so much thank you for putting up with two crazy English women. This man not only needs a medal he needs promoting, nothing was too much for him and he was so kind and gentle anything we needed he was there for us, Mohammed thank you so much and keep up the good work. All the staff need a mention but unfortunately there are too many of them to do so, with staff like this you seem to overlook the tiredness and fact that there are too many ignorant Russians who stay there. My sister and I will miss all the staffs welcoming morning, afternoon and evening greetings you are all such lovely people. Thank you for making our first visit to Egypt...
