Baron Resort, Sharm El Sheikh – A Detailed Review
Location: Baron Resort in Sharm El Sheikh boasts an ideal location, just a short drive from Sharm El Sheikh International Airport and the vibrant Soho Square. The proximity to these key spots makes it an excellent choice for travelers seeking both convenience and access to lively entertainment and shopping areas. The resort's positioning along the Red Sea also provides stunning ocean views, with easy access to the beach and water activities.
Grounds: One of the standout features of the Baron Resort is its meticulously manicured grounds. From the moment you step in, you’ll be greeted by lush gardens, palm trees, and beautifully maintained pathways that offer a serene atmosphere. Whether you’re walking down to the beach or exploring the resort, the beauty of the landscape adds a touch of paradise to your stay.
Dining Experience: Baron Resort shines when it comes to its selection of restaurants. The culinary variety is nothing short of impressive. Whether you’re in the mood for flavorful Indian dishes, authentic Egyptian cuisine, or classic Italian fare, the resort has something to offer every palate. The quality of the food, presentation, and the ambiance of the dining venues create a well-rounded dining experience that caters to both couples and families. Each restaurant also comes with friendly and attentive staff, ensuring that every meal feels special. We dined at all the restaurants including the pool side restaurant and gala dinner and were not bored of the food for the entire week.
Service and Staff: The most memorable aspect of Baron Resort, however, is the incredible service provided by the staff. From the moment you arrive, the warmth and hospitality make you feel like you’re truly welcome. The staff go out of their way to accommodate requests and ensure your comfort, and many guests rave about the personalized attention. Whether it’s at the reception, by the pool, or at any of the restaurants, the friendly staff genuinely enhance the experience. Shout out to Hazem in reception, chef Shazley, Mo Osman, Mo Hamed and also Amr Ahmed that were brilliant.
Pool and Sea One of the standout features is the stunning beachfront with direct access to a pristine coral reef. The shallow waters are so clear that you can watch colorful fish swim right beneath your feet without the need for any snorkeling gear. For those seeking more adventure, deeper snorkeling is available, offering a closer look at the vibrant underwater world. Various sea sports activities are also available, ensuring there's always something exciting to do by the water. If you prefer to relax by the pool, the resort boasts a massive swimming pool where you can unwind and soak up the sun.
Amenities As part of the premium all-inclusive package, you can enjoy a 30-minute massage session to truly melt away any stress. Need a haircut or a quick trim? The on-site hairdressers and barbers have you covered. And for added convenience, dry cleaning services are available to keep your wardrobe fresh. In addition to these amenities, there’s a charming collection of shops nestled between Baron Palms and Baron Resort, offering a range of goods—from souvenirs to essentials—making it easy to pick up anything you need without leaving the resort.
Rooms and Accommodations: While the resort offers many pros, one notable downside is the bedding configuration. The resort photos show what look like king-size beds in the rooms, but in reality, they are closer to queen size. This can be an issue if you’re traveling with a larger family or expect more spacious sleeping arrangements. For families with older children, I would recommend booking two separate rooms for a more comfortable stay. Sharing a room with older kids can feel a bit cramped due to the bed sizes. Also the rooms are kept very clean and tidy but they are showing their age and lacking more modern functionality such as usb charging ports and tv...
Read moreNot a 5* hotel. Maybe 4* at a stretch. Lovely views and stretch of beach but the rooms and bathrooms were dated. Also, one of the nights, they decided to work on the room next door to us at 2am for 40 minutes. They were shouting, hammering, nailing things and slamming toilet lids down over and over. There was no one in the room, they just decided to work on it at 2am. I cannot believe they thought that was a good idea or acceptable. I am a deep sleeper but if someone is hammering and shouting on the wall 6 inches from your head where you are sleeping at 2am, it’s very loud. I spoke to reception about it and they huffed and said “they didn’t tell me that would happen yesterday, I’ll let the manager know” in a way that made me think it wasn’t the first time.
The staff in general were friendly and rude depending on the person and day. We had some lovely staff and genuinely worst staff we have ever encountered at a hotel/resort, who dismissed you or were rude and short. Receptions was consistently nice and helpful, as was our room cleaner, and some of the waiters and bar staff, and one chef in particular. Others were the opposite and tried to ignore you or had a “you are in my way attitude”. Also special mention to the spa, very good massages at reasonable prices, and the dive center was lovely and accommodating (although we had to cancel our trip due to illness).
Taste wise, the buffet food was disappointing but not terrible. Then the al la carte restaurants were completely mixed from being very good at the Taj Mahal Indian, to ok food terrible service at the Egyptian restaurant (its name and cuisine), and poor at the Italian. The seafood restaurant fed us expired shrimps (we avoided food poisoning, but apparently others didn’t) and lukewarm, half raw sea bass (which was delicious after it was cooked properly, genuinely nicest sea bass I have eaten and I worked in a seafood restaurant for a while).
Also, appalling for allergies. Half the chefs and waiters don’t know the words for gluten even in Arabic, and aren’t sure and dismiss you, or tell you blatantly wrong information. I had 3 chefs tell me completely different answers about the same dish, on the same evening when I was suspicious it had gluten but wasn’t familiar and wanted to see if I could try it, and the serving spoons were shared between gluten, dairy and nut dishes with other dishes at the buffet so you literally cannot avoid allergies. A few waiters and chefs were great though and went out of their way. It was so inconsistent if you have any kind of allergy or intolerance, you simply cannot go here, it is genuinely dangerous if you don’t seek down a helpful chef (sometimes taking 2 or 3 attempts) and get them to get new serving spoons just for you at the buffet. It’s ridiculous not to have them know what gluten is (in Arabic, I’m sympathetic they may not know it in English) if they are a chef.
Service at the al la carte restaurants is poor, with a completely randomised experience of sometimes getting offered drinks immediately, to other times physically needing to stand up to call someone to get a drink, then the drinks will arrive anywhere from 1 minute to 30 minutes later.
If you haven’t got any allergies, and want a reasonable priced 3-4* hotel quality amenities but with a genuinely excellent beach, then I would go back here. If you have any kind of food allergies, you simply cannot go because you cannot eat at any of the restaurants or...
Read moreAbsolutely ludicrous that this hotel is rated five star it is quite frankly appalling. I just returned home yesterday from staying seven awful nights at this hotel. It was that bad after the third night here I tried to book for a flight home. ||On the night of arrival we were greeted with unpleasant miserable faces after check in and taken to our room which was the furthest possible room away (about a 15 minute walk), yet the guy taking our cases kindly said to “see reception after 10am to change your room” as if he knew the room was terrible. |Our booking stated a “superior deluxe double room with kind size bed” … we were welcomed to 2 single beds and a room the size not even big enough to swing a cat in. It also stated a cot for my 4 month old baby yet you guessed it no cot, yet when one arrived it was so unsafe i.e a pillow for a mattress? |The photos on booking absolutely do not portray and reflect what we encountered. ||After we arrived to our second room we were shortly after greeted with neighbours who were smoking in their room which kindly filled ours which was absolutely shocking. It also was apparent that it was coming through the air con. When we approached the staff about this for the welfare of my baby they abruptly said “I can’t tell them to stop smoking” and asked if we would like to move rooms AGAIN. We were shown to another room which had 2 single beds again and the staff member said “it’s okay it’s nice to sleep alone I have 2 wives you see 2 singles beds”.||My experience from this hotel was overall disgusting the staff walk past you and can’t even be bothered to say hello never mind smile, or even hold a door open with me pushing a pram, no courtesy whatsoever (whether this is because we were English I don’t know) but they seemed very pleasant with the locals. |The food was absolutely terrible. At the main restaurant you were given one slice of meat and god forbid you went for another slice you were met with a sigh, tut and an eye roll. Asking for water was like getting blood from a stone, we ended up going to the local shop for this. |The staff we overall very abrupt and rude besides one staff member who was always happy and smiley, sadly I can’t remember his name although it may have been Mohammed but I think every single staff member was called Mohammed. |Another point I found quite strange was the lack of female staff members, out of the whole seven nights stay I seen one female staff member. ||Considering this place is recommended for families there was no facilities available for sterilising baby bottles and when asked about this of course they were not helpful, so I repeatedly had to boil the kettle. ||Guest room amenities and facilities stated fruit basket and cookies once per stay yet we never received one? |The mini bar was never once refilled unless you wanted waking up at 8am despite a do not disturb sign on the door, more for my daughter waking in the night. ||Upon speaking to the one of two English couples we met also agreed it certainly was not five star. ||I absolutely would not return to this hotel and will not be recommending...
