We have just spent a week at the Steigenberger Alcazar in Nabq Bay, and we were amazed with every aspect of this hotel. (9th-16th June)||As soon as we arrived we were welcomed by the reception staff, and offered a drink. The main reception/lobby was stunning! With fantastic flower arrangements and lighting at every turn. Everything was explained to us and we were taken to our room by golf buggy. ||We had booked a swim-up room and were allocated room 2049. The room was spotless, comfortable and large. The pool was a great addition, some pools were open to 4 apartments, whereas ours was sectioned off, making it more private. Our room was situated across from the main activity pool, in the middle of the 3 pools on the resort, so it was the perfect location to get around. ||The main building, and all of the a la carte restaurants were tastefully decorated, everywhere was breathtaking and beautiful. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, and the grounds were all well maintained with pretty gardens at every turn (i kill most plants, so i was impressed that everything was so lush in the heat)||ALL staff need to be thanked. They all work tirelessly from the gardeners, the cleaners, waiting staff, bar tenders, lifeguards. And they all work with a smile on their face and a ‘good morning’. ||I stupidly ignored others mentioning mosquitoes, especially as we had the pool room. On the first full night I was the mosquitoes all inclusive feast! I had over 60 bites by the morning. I pointed them out to out housekeeper, Osman, who was mortified…..not that it was his or the hotels fault. We hadn’t noticed any in the room before bed, and didn’t hear any – possibly due to the feint sound of the sir-conditioning unit (that was actually quite relaxing to hear). Osman was quick to get pest control in to fumigate the room, and put a plug in bug repellent in the outlet and he arranged for ‘mosquito man’ to attend each night to check the room for us. Staff literally couldn’t do enough for us. They were amazing. And the hotels pharmacist was able to supply us with medication to help. ||Guest relations would walk around the buffet restaurant at breakfast, and around the pool making sure that everything was to our satisfaction, and if not they wanted to hear about it so that they could make improvements. This was a lovely touch, and not invasive. ||The food in ALL areas of the hotel was amazing. There is something for everyone, which is impressive due to the number of different nationalities at the hotel – which was great to see.||A special thanks to:||Osman – our housekeeper. He was lovely, so thorough, thoughtful and polite. Nothing was to much trouble.||Emad – lifeguard in the 1st pool (closest to the main building). He was so full of energy and a joy to chat with and get to know. He is a real credit to the hotel.||Imr – Zohreya (buffet) restaurant manager. He was always working, not sure when he goes home, if at all! But he was always smiling, and happy to chat. He was always checking that everything was to our satisfaction ....and it always was.||Ahmed – Waiter in the Zohreya restaurant. He was always so happy to see us and remembered our drinks order, always making sure we had enough. He just has such an infectious smile. ||Saed – Hama Japanese Restaurant. He was an amazing waiter, and clearly wanted us to have the best experience at the restaurant. I think Hama was my favourite of all of the restaurants, the food was so good! ||Mohamed, aka ‘Mosquito Man’ – he was like a ninja with that electric racket! And an absolute star.||Saying that, I couldn’t fault any of the staff. They were all so attentive. They made the holiday a real joy. We were so relaxed and comfortable throughout the week. || ||There are various fitness and entertainment programmes throughout the day and night – we didn’t tend to join in because we just liked the peace of the bars and pool, away from the activity pool and amphitheatre, but those who were involved enjoyed the overall experience. ||The drinks are brilliant, not pre-made like in some all-inclusive hotels I’ve been to in the past. The rosé champagne was particularly good in the restaurants, and the pina colada’s were my favourite of the cocktails.||We had no problem at all in getting sunbeds, a slot at the spa (which was lovely and highly recommended) or booking the a la carte restaurants. Nor did we have to queue at any time. ||My advice is to ensure you have bug repellent! And book the a la carte’s as soon as you get to your room, we had no issues at all. And Guest relations can book for you too, if you want a repeat visit to one restaurant in particular. ||Ignore the bad reviews. If you want good service, cleanliness and a variety of tasty and good quality food and drink then book here. You won’t regret it. We’re already looking to book to return.||Thank you to all at the Steigenberger Alcazar. We will...
Read moreWe stayed at the Steigenberger Alcazar for five nights, in February 2025 with our small daughter. In a few words, the resort is beautiful and well maintained on the whole, and we would definitely recommend a visit. It’s a little quiet in February, which we actually liked, but found the nights a bit colder and windier than we had anticipated (not the resort’s fault!). Here are some highlights followed by a few areas to improve: The highlights of the resort were the gorgeous heated pools, the attentive staff, the food. We mainly used the middle pool and the nearby kids pool, as they’re heated, but also relaxed by the first (non heated) pool since there is no loud music by that one. The middle pool has quite loud music for its aerobic classes and at different times of the day, which I think could be toned down a bit but that’s just me! The grounds also look stunning and take a lot of work to maintain so well - hats off to the hard working gardeners. All around the resort people were so smiley and helpful- from the restaurants to the pools to the kids club. Everyone was also really kind to our daughter who wasn’t feeling well during the trip due to a cold. While most of the food we had in the main restaurant was excellent, the real star of the show was the Lebanese restaurant, Amoura, which was fantastic. We went twice during our stay. On our last night, we were served by the lovely Abdelmuteleb (‘Abdo’) and were very well taken care of, all our needs were anticipated by him. Thanks Abdo! It was also honestly some of the best food we’ve ever had! I’m vegetarian and had no problem finding amazing food, including both meze and main dishes. The fresh bread was epic. There was a musician playing a beautiful Egyptian string instrument during dinner, adding another layer to the experience. They also took great care of our daughter, and had lots of patience with her. The middle pool snack bar staff were great as well, often remembering us and what we liked. Shout out to Ali who works there in the afternoons who always looked after us. It’s a great place for an early evening wind down, by the way, as the sun comes down and around that way. Throughout our stay, I did notice a few areas for improvement, despite how great this place is overall. We had to move rooms as we had booked too small of a room on accident, (which was handled very well by the manager), so we did see several different rooms. In those we saw, the decor was starting to get slightly tired. The rooms need new carpet, and the flooring and bathrooms in particular need a deep clean. The composite door on our first room was eroded away at the bottom from the sprinklers or mopping or something, and the room didn’t make a good first impression after a long flight. Our upgraded room was better but still tired for the same reasons as above. The rooms we saw were family rooms, so maybe they had more wear and tear due to children using them, perhaps. They just did not quite match up to the beautiful marble and tile and decor seen elsewhere in the resort. The kids club area, especially the kids club pool, was in need of a little refresh as well, though nothing major. The poolside toilets could also be better cleaned. We visited the spa, which was ok, but the steam room was not hot at all, rendering it useless and neither were the jacuzzis. The sauna was great though, and overall it was a peaceful place which was clean and well maintained. I would absolutely not recommend the evening sundown yoga class. It is a great idea, but the instructor I had was speaking in Russian to a fellow attendee almost the whole time, though was conducting the class in English. More importantly, the flow was quite bad- she forgot to do one side of our body so I had to quickly fit that in and then catch up to the other exercises. And she turned up over 10 minutes late. I’m sure that will improve as I understand she was new, but it was the worst yoga class I ever experienced.
Overall we would recommend a trip here, there were some fantastic memories made....
Read moreArrived back a few days and want to give my honest opinion of the hotel.... ||||The pool the grounds and the room was lovely. If you need a hairdryer bring your own one the one in the room didn't even work and looked crap... called reception and they sent another one up.. had to call a few times for beach towels as they never left any... one day I jumped in the shower and had to call out to my friend to call reception as the cleaner cleaned the room but left no towels in the room at all so had to stay in the shower until they brought them up.. no wine on arrival or red bull in the room so they must have changed this... ||||Around the pool service can be slow don't mind getting up and getting my own drink. To get a decent seat at the adults pool go at 6am that's what most do and they leave their seats empty all morning with their towles on. I've witnessed the beds not being used from 6ish to past 11am. Mostafa was the best barmen always friendly, happy and made us lovely drinks. Tipping is a known thing been down there and seen the lifeguards putting down towels for people so they obvious tipped them the night before. ||||I enjoyed all the la carte restaurants except for one which was the Italian... it was disgusting didn't enjoy one dish there and we ordered a lot. Everything was swimming in olive oil.... labenese, Mediterranean and Japanese restaurant was the stand out. best ones for me is Japanese still dreaming of those prawns. The app does work just painfully slow but managed to book on there mostly only 8pm and 9pm was available but that didn't bother us we don't mind eating late. We usually would be done from the pool at 5pm and we would go out to sharm town and come back at 9pm for dinner.||||The buffet for me was rank sorry this is my personal.opinion I didn't enjoy any thing there... I only ate there one night.... the breakfast buffet was much better and would always get a lovely omelette from mohamed and was always smiling and friendly.||||Easyjet holidays said the spa was unlimited use... when we was there they said you can only use it once... ||||Late check out we was offered till 2pm flight not until 9.30pm asked if we could pay till 6pm and they said no.latest they could give us was 4pm but wanted 70 dollars... said I'm not paying 70 dollars for 2 hours tried to haggle till 3pm and they refused... no where to.shower except the cold showers by the pools no where to get ready and they said you can't use the spa to shower... luckily on my last day one of the girls from gues relations was coming by and by chance I asked her and she managed to sort me 3pm.check out time. Better than nothing. Showered changed in airport clothes check out at 3pm... and wr went and had lunch and walked around few drinks then pick up was at 6pm... not ideal but better than nothing.... 5 star resort should really have an area for people to use showers etc.||||The beach i didn't bother seating there as I love to swim.in the sea but this literally comes up to your ankles lol unless you jump of the jetty and only a few days we're yellow flag days. So if you want to do that if you see a yellow flag go and do it as the next 4 days might be red. Also the beds in sea didn't look comfortable at all.||||We did a boat trip but used falcon adventures and it was very good and half the price of what the hotel rep was quoting.||||This just my honest opinion before you guys attack me... I'm not saying the hotel wasn't nice, it was beautiful and we had an amazing holiday... but it was so hyped up.in here... but I've seen and read they have management changes so maybe the hotel.is not the same as it was months ago. Oh and one other thing seeing how rude other nationalities can be I'm proud of us brits as I see countless times us being friendly and using manners.... others at the bar get me this drink no please no thank you... you open the door for them no thank you... they want you to move no...
