Read morei went for 9 days with my family, we slept in one room with four is us and one room with two, in room 3022, the air conditioning didn’t work ATALL i’m being deadly serious, the roof was leaking and since there was slits in the roof for air conditioning right above the door as you enter, lots of water was dripping from it forming big puddles and my mum with a bad back repeatedly slipped. after the first issue we called for maintenance and all that happened was the roof panels being removed and put back after an hour or so and the problem didn’t resolve at all and the roof is STILL leaking badly infront of the door (no AC isn’t ideal in 35°+ weathers). our balcony door also didn’t lock well at all and you could hear all noises from outside at every point at the day, the hotel is also near an airport so there is constant low flying planes even during the night (expected but VERY annoying since the doors are very thin). speaking of doors, the other room we booked (3019), the door frame on the inside was coming off with the door so any time you open es the door you had to push it in to unlock the door since it got stuck on the door frame (not good for safety). in 3022 i went for a shower and when i tried to take the shower head off of the holder to hold in my hand the ENTIRE shower framing fell off of the wall and it was only held in by a single screw????. the pools are nice tho and some of the staff (the entertainers in the neon shirts are very kind).
today is our last day so we have a flight for 10pm and we planned to leave the premises at 6:30 to get to the airport. we were told to leave our rooms at 12pm (as expected) so we payed for room 3019 to let us stay untill 4pm, we were asked to leave our room at 12 as we “didn’t have proof of payment for extended stay” even though we did after showing the woman our payments. right now we are sat by the pool untill 6:30pm, we had two men (presumably from the front des or something) come up to us and demand our room cards and towel cards AND our wristbands be taken off our wrists that instant, they didn’t give us any explanation and even fished a wristband out of the bin that was not ours, he also dripped a wristband off my mums wrist. talking about towel cards, you get given a towel card to exchange for each towel per person whilst your staying there, we had 6 people so 6 towel cards and they make you pay for a replacement if you lose one towel card , (each costing £15) my brother exchanged 2 towels to get two cards back by the water slide pool but they “didn’t have any left” making my brother seem like he’d lost two towel cards (meaning it would cost us £30 to replace), they want to charge us but after we explained multiple times and they eventually checked security cameras, they gave us two back.
the site also isnt finished so there is CONSTANT construction and i mean like buzz saws cutting metal right by the pool (it’s happening as i write this) and multiple hallways are boarded up poorly with plywood which is hanging on by a thread which is obviously a hazard. and since the construction of the future hotel rooms is right by the pools i’ve noticed many adult construction workers staring at the girls in tw piece swimming costumes (one being my little sister) and staring VERY hard which made me very uncomfy even if im a man 😬😬. the food is very repetitive and they don’t have AC in one of the restaurants, they don’t have any vegetarian options apart from a salad bar (which gets boring) and they don’t cook the pasta and meat enough.
as a summary: the management are VERY rude and demanding towards us, the walls and doors are very thin meaning no silence at all, there is constant construction noises and mess in most places, the construction workers suggestively stare at the girls in the pool and they don’t bother fixing issues and they block your number from reception after calling one to many times (despite our calls being about a hazard in the room)
can’t believe im complaining so much i don’t usually but i want to show how much of a waste of money booking...
Read moreReception-disaster. Everything seems to be so complicated and a minimum of three people is required to deal with the smallest of queries.
The room is of a good size, the bed is comfortable, the bedding is clean. The balcony pool view lovely, simple and clean.
The bathroom. Give me a bottle of bleach a scrubbing brush and an hour I could have those bathrooms looking significantly better than they do now.
As expected in Egypt, your Room keeper is well above and cannot do enough for you. I stayed in two rooms during my 10 days day and both were excellent.
The reviews go on about the service. I didn't see any until about day five when staff started to recognise you. The pool bar man Recognised me every time he saw me because he knew that he'd be getting a couple of hundred Egyptian pounds at the end of the day.
When you see all these buffets pictures and plentiful food - They weren't there when I was there. The salad bar was extensive, As was the Desserts. But all much of a muchness when you actually look at them.
The breakfast buffet with a selection of cheeses and meats… Not whilst I was there. Out of 10 day stay I saw cheese On four days.
The hot food dishes. A little choice repeated every couple of days. The barbecue was scorched on the outside raw on the inside. By the time you've made your selection from the barbecue, you smelt like the barbecue.
Breakfast. The omelette station is very popular. So they need to have more staff doing omelettes. But they don't.
They have two small coffee machine machines for the entirety of the outside eating area and the restaurant and the small children's restaurant. There is a vat of American coffee In the children's dining room, which has no taste to it at all.
And you need to be quick with your table. You can put your personal items on the table. But there's no guarantee that your table will still be available when you get back. Several times I had to shoo off a family off our table, As they have taken over.
Whilst I appreciate August is busy because of the school holidays there is no accommodation for this. There are no extra tables, there's no extra staff to help maintain cleaning and relaying tables. Bunfight comes to mind.
6 restaurants? No there isn't there are 3 all serving exactly the same food and three à la carte restaurants to which you have to pay for. (One of the three inclusive restaurants has a very tiny selection of food which is aimed at children which is chips, chips, chips, pizza, and perhaps chicken nuggets)
For the à la carte I needed to pay $5 per person deposit and choose the meal at the time of booking. (Interestingly, that $5 deposit per person never actually made it off the bill!).
There is no solid process with anything. You can sit down with a linen napkin that includes a knife a fork and spoon. You can go the next day and you will have A linen napkin with a fork. The next day it could be a paper napkin and no cutlery at all. And cutlery boxes in the restaurant are all empty.
However, the learning from staying in this hotel is if you want anything, you have to go ask for it. And then you need to have the patience of a saint whilst it arrives.
The music around the main dirty pool is like a beatbox. It's throbbing. The sun lounges are plentiful. Until the Brits arrived in large groups and by 730 they had all gone.
However, the other guests in the hotel, mainly the Arab families who were extremely rude and Derogatory just take over. (Now granted that isn't the Hotel's fault, But it adds to your experience).
We did have upset tummies whilst we were there but I firmly believe that was what I call air-conditioning flu. Where I went from super hot to cold backwards and forwards I will not put any blame at the hotel.
It is nowhere near the centre. It's a 15 minute walk down a dark road to any kind of civilisation.
Positives - leaving! The bar staff Housekeeping staff Carloline at customer service The bed was very comfortable Towels were large and useful Balcony Hotel taxi...
