The Tukul Village in Gondar was our base for 3 days on a culture tour to several rock-churches in and around Lalibella with 11 people.||||It is essential to rate it in light of the general living and hotel conditions in Ethiopia. Central European standards must not be taken as a basis under any circumstances. That would be unfair, especially after the political crisis of 2021/2022, which is just calming down.||||Messay, the hotelier, and its staff make almost anything possible.||||Super reliable and punctual service, both for the shuttle service to and from the airport and in connection with breakfast and dinner.||||The rooms are designed and concepted according to the local traditional architecture. Clean, spacious, bright rooms, a Balcony, sometimes with a visit by monkeys. Fresh bottle of water in the room every day. Beds are made. Simple, functional bathrooms with hot water and water flow that could be improved here and there. ||||Nice garden around the roomtukuls and a roofed area beside the reception to have a drink.||||Breakfast with bread, orange marmalade, honey and your choice of pancake or eggs. Choice of coffee or black tea.||||The hotel organises excursions to the rock churches, guided tours in the cityr...

We stayed four nights and had a great stay. The rooms were beautiful, a good size, and very clean. We slept well, and it was quite special to hear the chanting from the churches each morning. Breakfast is included, and there's a short menu with porridge, eggs etc. We mostly had eggs which were lovely with fresh home made bread and local honey. Airport collection is possible, but not included in the price of your stay. Location is perfect for seeing the churches - you can easily walk to them. WiFi worked well, and there was plenty of hot water in the bathroom heater. We had laundry done at a very reasonable price. We also arranged a driver/guide for the churches in the countryside around Lalibela. This was a reasonable price, but the driver's English wasn't great. I suppose there are pros and cons to this, depending on how talkative you like your guides to be! For us it was fine, but occasionally frustrating when we had a question that couldn't be answered. Highly...

We had the most amazing time at Tukul Village! Every single member of the staff was super friendly and helpful. The check-in went really smoothly (we were able to go into the rooms quite early in the morning and everything was super clean and prepared). The beautifully decorated rooms are all inside Tukuls (Bungalows) with amazing interiour design and super modern bathrooms. The balcony of each room presents an amazing view over the hills of magical Lalibela. Let's just say our picture of the food doesn't lie...it was soooooo delicious! Breakfast lunch and dinner is offered and presented in traditional mosebs. The location is super central, i.e. the churches are a 10 min walk away. All in all we had such a beautiful and memorable stay. I recommend this place whole heartedly! Thank you Tukul Team :)

Oh, how I love this place. The views were amazing and the tiny village was such a special place to be. The people are so kind and welcoming. I got up at the crack of dawn to the locals climbing the mountain heading to church. The chanting of the priests, the Smokey mountain and the sounds of the animals was nothing more than enchanting. Uhhh!!! Sorry for the pic. That was the only one I had with a view of the tukul in the back ground. Sorry!

The rooms are spacious, good beds, clean. The showers had very hot water. Lighting in the room could be improved a bit, I think. The staff go out of their way to please and help clients. It’s location is good: near to Beit Giyorgis Church and the souvenir shops at the roundabout and all along the Main Street.
