While slow traveling through southern Finland, I stayed 3 nights at the hostel, which was fine for me, but definitely seemed like an anomaly to people at the hostel.||The hostel is definitely dated and paper thin floors and walls. You can hear people snore in the room next to you very easily. The bathrooms are actually nicely equipped and you have good water pressure, which was a surprise.||Wifi throughout the hostel is iffy but I was close to the router and did get a signal. ||One thing to note: the hostel is open from 6am - 10am and 4pm - 11pm. There is no one on-site between those times and sometimes not even until 11pm. ||There is no luggage storage if you arrive early too. You will literally be sitting outside so be aware. In the morning, there is a lot of noise with the housekeeper trying to clean and remove things before the 10am time hits. Whether you’re in the room or not.||For check in time, the manager is very nice and speaks English well so that’s a nice welcome.||The hostel is definitely worth the cost savings, but if you don’t have a car, it’s not a great location. You’re 20 minute walk from old town (maybe more) and at least 15 minutes from the bus station. If weather isn’t great…that will not be fun.||Overall, I would recommend it and would consider...
Read moreIt was Easter, and the hostel, which can accomodate 29 people I think, had only one other person staying, so very quiet. A member of staff told us about a walk, just across the road opposite the hostel's front door. You go up a path and in not too far on you see signs that point the way for a 3 km or 1.5 km walk. we did the 1.5 km, it was very beautiful being in the trees. We passed many people jogging,, dog walking, nordic walking, so quite well used by locals. It was really great to get into such beautiful nature just across the road! We had a room with 2 single beds. I had emailed in advance to request the reservation, we paid on arrival. It was great having our own fridge, and we enjoyed watching some every day tv in Finnish, or with Finnish subtitles. The hostel provides free Porvoo Tourist Information brochures. The swimming pool just across the road has a breakfast buffet we heard, for 5 euros, so that is a good option if you have not brought food with you. I can see that Porvoo really is at it's busiest in the summer months, e.g. the bike hire shop opens in May, some attractons are available in June, July August only. I would definitly stay here again- for 2 people in a double room we paid 27 euros per...
Read moreService is pretty good at the hostel. Reception is on the place almost always and is very glad to help. Roms are in good condition, clean, with thick tv inside. The thing is, that walls are really tin, and you can hear if someone is talking in the next room, sneezing or snores, I would recommend taking something to put in your ears, just in case. There is a kitchen, where you can make food yourself, a hostel is providing with free tea, coffee and it's possible to ad sauce - ketchup or mustard. At my staying I had problems with wifi, it couldn't connect to a network and be pretty limited. The hotel has a good location, next to a swimming pool, in a quiet area of town. 900m away from the center of the city and ~500m to the closest store. If I hade a chance I would stay here for the...
