Club Med La Plagne 2000: Disappointing experience compared to other Club Meds.
We had mixed feelings about our stay at Club Med La Plagne 2000, but overall, we left disappointed, especially compared to other Club Med properties we’ve visited in the past. The experience felt less about hospitality and more about prioritizing premium members, leaving regular members with a subpar experience.
Lack of recognition for regular members: From the moment we arrived, it was clear that unless you were a Gold or Platinum member, your presence was barely acknowledged. For example: We were repeatedly told the specialty restaurant was fully booked, yet when we dined there, it was nearly empty, seemingly reserved for VIP members. A spa treatment we booked a week in advance was canceled last minute with just a note left in our room no explanation. Worse, I had to cancel my ski group’s farewell drinks to make it to the now-nonexistent appointment.
A chaotic check-in and poor room conditions: Our check-in experience was not acceptable for a premium resort. We arrived at 14h30, but the room wasn’t ready. We were told check-in was at 15h—fair enough. However, after four follow-ups (two with reception, two with housekeeping at the room floor directly), we were finally allowed into our room at 19h30 wasting an entire afternoon of skiing. The room smelled of cigarette smoke and had a large damp spot under the window. The room was a connecting room with two beds while we requested one double bed room. When we raised concerns about the delay, staff dismissed it, saying It’s in the contract. As someone who has worked in luxury hospitality for years, I can confidently say that a room not being ready by 15h (when check-out is at 10h) is simply poor management.
Mediocre Dining Experience: While the main restaurant offered decent food, it was basic compared to other Club Meds in the region. Cleanliness was also an issue, with some plates and cups with food/liquid traces, something unacceptable for a resort of this standard.
The specialty restaurant, however, was the biggest disappointment: Service was painfully slow despite only four tables being occupied. The soup was inedible due to excessive salt. The cheese fondue one of the highlights we were looking forward to was a disaster. The cheese was low quality and tasteless. The portion for two people was small (though we wouldn’t have wanted more because it was the worst fondue we’ve ever had). Dessert, which was available at the buffet, took ages to arrive.
We had an amazing fondue experience at Club Med Peisey-Vallandry, and we expected the same quality here but we were wrong.
Ski Experience: The skiing itself was fantastic, but the group sizes were large (12 per instructor), which made navigating crowded slopes more challenging during peak season.
Rigid and Inflexible Check-out. Check-out at Club Med La Plagne 2000 is quite rigid. Strict 10h check-out, no exceptions, not even a small extension despite our painful check-in experience. They even requested guests vacate rooms 15 minutes before 10h to ensure a smooth process. Our transfer was scheduled for 14h, meaning we had four hours to wait with no room access. A little flexibility on check-out would have been nice but no such luck.
Final Thoughts: Club Med’s Shift Toward a Profit-Driven Model. Club Med seems to have shifted its focus entirely toward revenue generation, at the expense of loyal customers who once loved its original hospitality culture. Regular members, even if they spend the same or more than premium members now receive the bare minimum service and recognition.
I truly hope Club Med rethinks this approach, because if this is their new business model, we’ll likely be booking elsewhere. -The value for money is simply no...

FOOD: Lots of variety in the food, ranging from French pastries all the way to Indian curries! The food is nutritionally balanced and extremely tasty too! They have very good options for kids too, for example pasta and soup. You can get unlimited food and drinks from the restaurant and bar. The bar serves alcoholic beverages, as well as non alcoholic, mock tails and juices, for example. Kids can order themselves (providing that it is non alcoholic) making it hassle free for the parents.
ROOMS: Very clean, no dust, dirt or smell. Very good condition and gets cleaned every day. Comfy beds, warm and cosy. Lots of storage space and cabinets. Lovely view of the mountains from our window. SKIING/SNOWBOARDING: ESF provides group and private lessons for skiing, and private for snowboarding. Excellent value! Instructors are extremely kind, helpful and informative. Lessons for adults and children. I would like to give a special mention to Coralline (Coco), who was my coach all week and she was outstanding! Skiing with a group of 8. Took us off piste very safe.y and kept checking to see if everyone was ok all of the time. Very caring and kind. Thanks, Coco! Ski in/ski out service right onto the slopes and meeting points for all of the ESF groups.
STAFF The staff were amazing all throughout our stay, they deserve a whole paragraph each! (but I don’t have room to write that 😂). Very friendly and approachable. Very respectful, helpful and caring. Catered to your needs instantly, no matter whether it was medical needs, room cleaning or the bartenders, the service was exceptional!
KIDS CLUB The kids club here at Club Med runs all the way from 2 year olds to 16, allowing them to have fun with friends and for the parents to have some relaxation time. The GO team take them to lunch and dinner (sign up required), but the little ones down for naps, and put on nightly activities for all the kids. Separate club for teens, allowing them to be slightly more free and playful without hurting smaller ones. My daughter loved it at the Kids Club and never wanted to leave even when it was bedtime! She said that it was “so much fun every night” and she “made lots of new friends by taking part in all the activities”. The Kids Club have their own ski in/ski out service right onto the slopes and meeting points for all of their ski groups. The GO’s take your children and assist with putting on the equipment, so you can go and get yourself ready for the day.
SUMMARY: I have so many more amazing things to say about our stay here, it has been truly wonderful and to be honest, I don’t want to leave!! Everything was fabulous: from the staff to the immaculate facilities. Would 100% recommend this resort and will be making another visit very soon. All I have to say now, is, Merci to everybody at Club Med 2100, you have made our stay truly unforgettable, and we have some photos to take home as personalised souvenirs! See...
Read moreThis is my first Club Med experience. I went to the hotel with high expectations because of the brand name. I will describe my experience: Plus -Ski in ski out: location is fantastic. High in the mountain so it is snow sure resort. Restaurant manager Oguz, and the other restaurant personnel Ibrahim, Celebi, Savas, Serkan made our restaurant experience a nice one. They were always helping us with a big smile and kindness. I am happy that I met them. The reason I gave 4 stars to the hotel is because of them. Thank you all and hope to see you at Club Med Palmiye. -Adam from the animation is fantastic. He made everyone party and have fun. -In general, I am happy with the entertainment, live music, snack hour and the bar. Ski lessons are a big plus.
Minus: -Ski locker room and the lockers are extremely narrow. Around 8.45-9.00, it is a chaos. Restaurant during breakfast and lunch is like a school canteen. It is difficult to find a clean table. Food quality can be improved. Eggs stations at the breakfast is problematic. The staff cooking omelets do not know how to handle the queue. They were unkind, too. The scrambled egg is the worst, so watery! Restaurant staff should prepare boiled eggs in advance. It is chaos to try to boil your own eggs. Food ( breakfast) in general is not replenished timely.
There were stains on the plates and glasses and this is not a one time issue. I have never met any particular GO. The ones that I met at the reception was far beyond being helpful. Last day, our room was not cleaned. I asked reception three times without any progress. At last I asked them to give me a bottle of water, and he did not!He even told me why I asked water from him, even though we were told that bottled water should be grabbed from the reception. -And the biggest disappointment: there is NO TEEN CLUB. I was expecting a special teen club, maybe some activities just for the kids btw 12-17. Although it is stated on the website that there is a junior club, there is none. The first day I arrived the hotel, I asked the receptionist where the teen club is. He directed me to the petit club. Then I went there and they said no, there is no teen club. Thus apart from ski lessons, there are no activities to entertain the teens. There were two table pools, broken, and during our stay it was not repaired. My son was extremely bored after ski hours. Although he is English spoken, the ski instructor spoke only French. The hotel is very outdated, It needs a general renovation. The rooms are dark, the carpet is old with stains. A ski hotel without sauna...
