Read moreWe just got back from a six night stay at Hotel Chalet Mont Blanc and had a great time. Pros and cons:
Pros: The location is awesome, just a short walk to the slopes (5 min) or a quick shuttle ride. The guys who drive the shuttles are awesome and when you are gearing up in the ski locker room in the morning will ask you if you want a ride on the shuttle if you don’t feel like walking and will load up your gear and drop you off. They will also drop you off and pick you up anywhere in town for free until 5:30. The pool and sauna are nice. Good in room toiletries. Short walk to town. Service was pretty good. Not five star but what you would expect for a little ski chalet.
Mid: Breakfast is basically continental plus eggs, bacon and sausage. Enough to get you going before a day on the hill. We had to wait over 45 min for the shuttle to pick us up from the mtn one day and ended up taking an uber. I don’t blame the drivers it was a busy time with I am sure a lot of people leaving the mtn. We learned to call at the top of the mtn and let them know we would be 15 min and never had an issue after that. Not a huge deal. Rooms are small but again to be expected for a chalet. We also booked the cozy room so it was pretty much what we expected.
Cons: Dinner is pretty overpriced and you can definitely get much better food and service for a short walk from the hotel. When we ate there the group next to us came in straight from the pool in bathing suits and bathrobes. Not what you expect when spending $40 an entree. I’m not a stickler for dress codes but if I am eating white tablecloth I don’t expect the guy next to me to be in a bathing suit. Also ordered desert and the ice cream was super freezer burnt. Probably should have turned it back but I’m not that guy. Unless you are too tired from skiing to go across the street, go elsewhere for dinner. Costs 25 to ride the shuttle after 5:30. When an uber was $18, this seems high. Although apparently there is only one driver in town and it was very rare we got one. But it would be nice to offer this free of charge and tip the driver. The ski shop couldn’t wax my board, apparently the machine wasn’t working. Not great when you are there for a week and need to keep your gear running.
All in all a great week, very polite staff and again the location is awesome. They have a few kinks to work out but would definitely...
