Ultima exceeded my expectations for the chalet experience, chef, and amenities. Communication with the people that took care of us did not meet my expectations. Concierge service was well below my expectations. But, I think overall its a 4.5 star experience. For a full detailed review, continue reading.

William, our butler, was very friendly and he learned our individual needs very quickly. For in house services he was great, however there was alot of miscommunication between him and the concierge services and drivers.

Andrea the chef cooked food better than any restaurant we've been to in Courchevel. We cancelled most of our dinner reservations and preferred dining in the chalet because of Andrea. He was the highlight of our experience at Ultima.

The layout of chalet 2 (South) wasn't the best. The morning view of the mountains was blocked from the living room. For 5 bedrooms, the living room did not fit the entire group and the sofas weren't very cozy. The rooms were great and the chalet was very clean and the housekeeping was excellent.

The spa area which included the indoor pool, sauna, steam room were amazing. It felt like a private area where only two chalets share this space. The spa treatments and massages we're ok but could be alot better.

When booking, I wished we had a say in choosing which chalets were available. Mainly because of the views of each chalet and also theh have a south side with 8 or 9 Chalets and then a north side with 4 or 5 chalets. You need to cross a road to go from south to north. Room service is not available at the North. Also many amenities like cinema room, bar, and ski in ski out were only available at the South Chalet. So note that ski in ski out is NOT for all chalets.

They have an excellent shuttle service (it's practically a private car service). But note that they will charge you if you need a car to go outside Courchevel and for late night rides.

The concierge service was not as expected. At two occasions, we went to a restaurant or an activity and ended up not being able to enter because apparently we did not have a reservation for that day. I suggest that you reconfirm all of your reservations before leaving your chalet. With that said, the Ultima Management tried their best to address the issue and offered an activity free of charge.

I suggest that you order the bill of your stay after every night or every 2 nights so you can keep track of the expenses because their were MANY expenses that Ultima wanted to charge us that shouldn't have been there.

The ski store experience was the worst at Ultima. From the first day, it was chaotic and it took so long, maybe they were under staffed. One of the major issues was that they gave advanced shoes to a complete beginner and in the end, the person incharge of the ski store claimed that we asked for an advanced ski and denied any responsibility and charged us for the advanced skis. Another issue was charging us additional days for the people who returned their skis. They claim that no one informed them about the returns. This goes back to the miscommunication between our butler and concierge services with the ski store.

With all that was said, Arty the concierge services manager resolved all the issues and tried his best to manage the inconveniences. Also the Director of Ultima was present and involved to make our stay as best as possible.

I definitely recommend Ultima for anyone interested in a high end hotel serviced...

Being married to an ultra-luxury travel consultant, I have been fortunate enough to stay at some of the worlds finest hotels over the past two decades, and this place was staggering.

Firstly I’ve always found the whole butler thing a bit awkward but Daria was incredibly perceptive and could not have done anything more to make our stay perfect.

Being situated at the side of the Belvedere run, with an exquisite ‘boot room’ where our gear awaited, with a team assembled to make getting into it and out of it again an effortless experience, and our snowboards on the edge of the piste outside the door ready to step into.

Shortly after returning from a day on the slopes, our muscles recovered while we floated in the 37-38deg indoor/outdoor pool, the highlight of a well-appointed spa with steam room, sauna, and treatment rooms.

That evening our superb chef was freestyled his own exciting international food fusions in our chalet, with excellent ingredients including duck, lobster, beef cheeks. His samosa, duck, and deserts were our favourites - Michelin standard, I would say.

The concept is a hybrid between catered chalet and hotel and it is very, very clever. It’s essentially a long corridor. The front comprises the restaurant, bar and spa, while the rear contains a cinema room and the entrances to each detached chalet that rises out of the lower building. From above they appear as individual ‘chocolate-box’ chalets, each with access to the piste behind via private decking areas that connect the upper floors to the slopes.

The first floor is a lobby area to the private elevator, next is a bedroom and cinema room, then two further bedrooms, and on the upper floor is a large but cozy living area and kitchen dining area that are all beautifully and tastefully finished in the finest materials.

The overall theme of the hotel decor is a perfectly balanced blend of understated opulence. The place looks, smells, and feels perfect. I am a very fussy person but compared to many of the other ultra-luxury experiences we’ve had, this was impossible to fault.

The transfers are in a brand new Mercedes people carrier with the usual bottled water provided and the driver was more than happy to drop us and collect us from the nightlife, so we got to experience the whole party scene without it being outside our balcony door.

This last point is perhaps the most important - if you think you want 1850 - I don’t think you do… if you want the best of everything, you...
