We stayed at this hotel for four nights in November 2024 as part of our vacation to Normandy for the 80th D-Day Anniversary.||Room- We were based on the 4th floor in the hotel. Our room had a double bed, double sofa bed, a good sized TV and Bathroom and plenty of our charging points to charge our electrical items. There was one criticism about the room- As there was three persons in our room, the cleaning staff did not leave enough towels in our room and we had to keep on asking Reception to provide us extra towels. Whilst this problem was rectified, the towels should have been provided without us having to ask the cleaning team to provide this on numerous occasions. ||Facilities- One morning, we had breakfast in the hotel. The buffet was €18 per person and had a selection of continental items (yoghurt and some cold meats) and some hot items (scrambled egg) I felt the price of the buffet was not good value for money. There was also a small bar by the lobby but we didn’t have a drink there as there was other bars nearby the hotel. ||Location and Dining - This hotel is based in the centre of Caen and there’s plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops nearby the hotel. In terms of dining, our favourite restaurants was the Boeuf & Cow (a steak restaurant) which is a 5 minute walk away from the hotel & Balthazar (a tapas restaurant which is a 10 minute walk) All the food at these restaurants were delicious. In terms of bars, I would recommend going to Ambar (it looks like an old bank building) which is adjacent to the hotel & has a good selection of beers, spirits and wines. The hotel is also near the major attractions in Caen (Memorial de Caen & Abbaye aux Hommes) & is in walking distance from the hotel. As our purpose of our stay was to pay our respects for the people who died in WW2, Caen is a great city and base to explore other cities, do a tour (we done a private tour) & memorial sites in Normandy. As the train station is a 15 minute walk away from the hotel , we caught the train to Bayeux for the day (which is a 10 minute train ride away) - This is where you can do the Bayeux Tapestry which is located in the centre of the city & is very interesting as well.||Lastly we want to say thanks to the receptionists- Aurelie and Maud for their assistance with our stay (printing off our SNCF rail tickets & for providing us with restaurant recommendations)||Overall I enjoyed my stay in Normandy and at this hotel and I would consider staying here again if we decided to visit Normandy.||The...
Read moreWe decided on this hotel due its central location in Caen, and it was the best decision we made. The room and bathroom were a decent size, bed was very comfortable. The BEST was the staff, Maude, Aurelie, and Sarah - they were super friendly, accommodating, and so very helpful in every possible way, from assisting in riding the metro and subway to small room incidentals (thank you, Maude, for my slippers!) 😍😍😍😍 |We really liked that the monoprix (a general store) was right across the street, restaurants and eateries were within a 3 mile walking proximity, and this hotel had a parking garage for a fee. We really appreciated the unexpected conveniences we found in this hotel, from the utmost hospitality to the centrality of eateries (we recommend the Vaugeaux area, a 3 min walk, to find lively places to dine after dark!). We stayed here for 7 nights, took tours to Mont St Michel, D-Day Beaches, Bayeaux, Honfleur, Rouen and had a wonderful time experiencing Normandy!||A HUGE thank you to the manager, Marie Broussard - your staff and management of this Best Western is just the best! 🌟🌟🌟||We highly recommend this hotel in Caen!||TIP: If you have a car, we advise you reserve early to book a parking space in this hotel, as space is very limited. Spaces are tight and ceiling is low (best for compact cars). |Also, this area of Caen is a hub for college students due to university proximity. It can get noisy well into...
Read moreWell what a hotel, right in the centre of Caen and it was the perfect conclusion to our trip around France. We were met by polite and courteous staff who went above and beyond by personally guiding us from where we were parked for check in, to the underground parking beneath the hotel - a thoughtful touch that made us feel welcomed after days of travel.||||Our room was a generous size with a comfortable bed (bigger than super king size!). Exactly what we needed to recharge before catching the ferry back to the UK the next day.||||The hotel's location only one minutes walk to the centre of Caen where there were plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. Our stay was only disrupted by a brief Free Palestine Demonstration passing noisely by the hotel, however, it caused minimal disturbance to our stay.||||Special mention to 'Martin' from reception who was still learning his job. He provided excellent service with impressive English language skills. He is certainly a credit to the hotel.......well done!||||We would definitely recommend the hotel to our friends and family if they...
