Hôtel Jean XXII — Hotel in Cahors

This is a beautiful little hotel close to the centre of Cahors with free parking just across the road. The owners were friendly and charming and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was also great with coffee freshly made by our hostess. The hotel is located in a very old and historic building (a former Dues palace no less!) and has retained all the charm of this, but very sympathetically modernised. It was very hot whilst we were there but the building retained a coolness and we were also delighted to find that our bedroom had air conditioning, even though it was not advertised as such. Our room was designated for three people even though there were only two of us, so it was large and spacious with a flight of stairs going up to our bedroom, with the third bed and bathroom below. This is a 2 star tourist hotel that is largely unmanned. The room we were allocated was strange. Badly angled wall positioned right next to the bed made getting in and out of bed a danger.

Only one power-point (a triple it must be said) and then on a wall not near the bed.

Hotel is tired - curtain hanging off hook, torn carpet in the hallway (tripping hazard) and toilet roll holder broken. Bed was hard and uncomfortable.

The final kicker for us was that a set of AirPods was stolen from our room whilst we were out once morning. Staff unhelpful when we bought this to her attention. FindMy tracked the Pods to the hotel, but when cleaner left, so did the Pods. Draw your own conclusions. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Nous avons été très déçus par la chambre 9 en duplex de 30 M2 que nous avions réservée à 2 dans l idée d avoir le confort d un grand espace. Au premier niveau il y a 10-11 M2 "utiles" en comptant la salle de bain, l escalier qui mène au "duplex"/mezzanine occupant un espace conséquent au sol. Il n'y a pas vraiment d endroit où se poser sur hormis le lit une place, coincé entre la salle de bain et la cloison. La salle de bain/WC offre peu de confort mais bon c'est un 2*... En duplex/mezzanine on trouve un grand lit, rien à redire, mais on peut juste en faire le tour sur trois côté. Donc là encore à part se poser sur le lit il n'y a pas d autre solution. Je qualifierais cet espace gagné sur la hauteur de la pièce de mezzanine car il est ouvert. Les M2 imaginaires sur la surface de l'escalier qui y mène ne doivent pas être comptabilisés dans la surface de la chambre. Donc 11m2 (premier niveau) + un grand lit et moins d'un mètre pour tourner au tour sur trois côtés sur la mezzanine, il n'y a pas 30m2 de surface. C'est indéniable. Enfin le bruit de la VMC nous a dérangés toute la nuit. La gérante nous a dit qu'elle aboutissait ailleurs dans un grenier. Néanmoins, j'ai fait un essai en éteignant la climatisation, ce n'était pas ça. Il y avait bien au dessus une de l appareil une VMC. Le bruit étant continuel, je ne vois pas à quoi d autre l attribuer. De toute façon c était tellement pénible que j'ai du opter pour des boules Quies. Étant donné la réponse insultante du gérant fait à un commentaire peu positif précédemment, je m attends au même...
