Le Grill de Julia — Restaurant in Cahors

Le Grill de Julia in Cahors was recommended by our Airbnb host Stephanie as the place that she and her friends like best. This was a great recommendation. We went to Le Grill two nights in a row. The first night we had a fabulous burger since we arrived fairly late. The wine was, of course, a great local Malbec blend. The second night we feasted. I had the cote de veau with a porcini mushroom sauce and amazing dauphinois potatoes. My wife had the faux filet and loved it. Dinner was topped off with mousse au chocolat.

The service was great. The already knew us on the second night and had our table and wine ready.

I'm not one to praise restaurants without good reason but this one became an instant favorite.

This is in the heart of beautiful Cahors near the cathedral. It's definitely an area...

Other rating were good so we had high expectations. We booked ahead and were a little disappointed to be put upstairs. The food was good overall. My steak was a bit fatty and hard to cut. We were in a dark part of the restaurant. The place needs a complete overhaul. There were seats and a table in front of a fire exit. A rating of 4 is generous but as I said the expectation was high. I wouldn’t recommend this...

Nous sommes allés en couple au Grill de Julia sur les conseils de notre aînée (25 ans, mais pas forcément neutre puisqu'elle est un exemple de "tout ce qui rentre fait ventre"...😂). D'abord, après un rapide coup d'œil à la carte, notre 1ère réaction a été "ce n'est quand même pas donné". Puis nous avons opté pour des entrecôtes (300g) bleues + frites maison + sauce poivre/cèpes pour 19,90€/personne. Il n'y a pas eu autant d'attente que les commentaires précédents le laissaient penser. 😉 Il faut que je précise que l'eau plate est arrivée tempérée et était très bonne (si, si, ce n'est pas si courant !). Puis ce fut le tour des plats. Chauds !!! Même l'entrecôte bleue à souhait était chaude !!! 😍 Et les sauces excellentes. Nous avons terminé le repas par un café de Sumatra que nous avons choisi dans leur carte des cafés. Bref, rapport qualité / prix nickel !! Et un patron à l'écoute malgré le coup de feu (sans oublier notre serveuse 😉). Merci, ma fille, de ce bon conseil. Juste un petit bémol pour les couverts qui sont trop fins pour la prise en main.

P. S. : La prochaine fois, nous opterons pour une assiette de la mer qui semble bien copieuse aussi. Parce que oui, nous y retournerons...
