Lovely place in a great location, with very friendly and welcoming staff. I thought it was very reasonably priced for the quality of accommodation. It has a warm and traditional chalet feel and was spotlessly clean at all times. We were a group of three, 1 adult, 2 teenage boys (16 and 18) and stayed in a triple room (room 21). The room was nicely decorated, the 3 single beds were comfortable, the bathroom was a decent size, the shower was powerful and always hot. Our room didn't have a balcony, as not every room does, but this didn't bother us particularly. It was a South-facing room, and the view was superb.||Breakfast - continental with high quality breads, pastries, cheeses, meats, eggs, cereal, quiche and tarts. Perfect.||Wifi - free, not quite up to streaming, but fine for everything else.||Ski and boot storage - plenty room in the ski room accessed from outside. Boot room with dryers/warmers accessible from reception.||Nearby - 3 ski rental shops within a few meters of the hotel, loads of restaurants and bars within a very short walk. ||Ski access - bucket lift across the road which takes you to the bottom of the pistes. You can ski back to the hotel, but it's pretty flat so not much good on a snowboard!||Criticisms - nothing of note. The room was too hot on the first night, even with the radiator switched off. Open the window in the evening and it's fine, as long as there is no-one singing on the street in the early hours!||If I return to Alpe d'Huez, I'll probably go back...
Read moreAlp 'Azur is perfectly located in Alpe D'Huez, within close walking distance to the shops and restaurants, and next to the cage lift (cost included in your lift pass) that takes you either to the lower town, or up to the start of the Signal lift. Perfect for skiing.||The superior rooms are well worth it, with a good amount of space, a lovely balcony with views over the resort to the mountains, and a welcoming bathroom. The bed is extremely comfortable, and the sheets are of very good quality. There is a kettle, and an excellent selection of herbal teas and instant coffee. If you like English tea, bring some bags and buy a bottle of milk at the supermarche (in winter it will keep cool on your balcony!).||I don't usually take breakfast, but the buffet was so good I did for the last 5 of my six days. Delicious dried fruits and cereals, yoghourt, eggs to soft boil "live", a small but superb selection of meats and cheeses, quiche, fresh bread, croissants and pastries, with good coffee and juice. If you want to ski through the lunch lift lull, you can after a breakfast like this.||Best of all is the kindness and service offered by the staff - led by the very lovely Severine. I wanted to ski on my last day, and catch the bus to Grenoble at 4. I was resigned to travelling in my ski gear - but no problem - I was offered a shower room to shower and change into my travel clothes in. Merci, Severine.||I'll be back at Alpe D'Huez as soon as I can - and I'll be staying...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel middle of March 2023. Half way through our trip my daughter who was staying in another room reported seeing a bed bug in her bed. We reported it and the room was checked, they did not offer us another room nor did they change the mattress, only cleaning and spraying. The last day I actually found another bed bug in her bed. The hotel again were pretty dismissive and implied we could have brought them with us. As it was the last day we were all creeped out and happy to be going. That evening when we arrived home and my daughter changed she found over 80 bites all over her body, from her head to her toes. After some research its normal for bites to appear a few days later. Meaning that there had to be an infestation in her room to have that many bites, proving the theory that we brought them untrue. All our clothes, luggage, shoes etc had to be left outside while we took on the rigorous task of trying to avoid them coming into our home. My son and my husband also received many bites, that appeared a few days later. We contacted our holiday rep who booked this trip for us, but despite her speaking to the hotel on several occasions they were unwilling to take any responsibility. It makes my skin crawl to imagine the horror of the infestation those rooms have and will continue to have if this is the hotel has this attitude. We were in...
