Five cycling buddies and I stayed there in Sep 2022. Fantastic shed for bikes, and amazing location for a cycling holiday. Unfortunately, the managers at this hotel are grumpy and need to go to hospitality school, as their preferred service approach includes eye rolls, sighs, and rude comments when you ask for things. And god forbid you bring food purchased outside onto hotel grounds; they'll give you a proper tongue lashing. Actually, more like openly talk sh&% and gesticulate about you to other guests in direct line of sight, and then accuse you of being the "uneducated" party in the matter when confronted about it. Pretty incredible stuff, really. Really unfortunate, but no way any of us stay here again, provided the foul taste the management left in our metaphorical mouth. The town is beautiful - definitely travel here!! - but I would avoid this hotel and seek...
Read moreJust back from a long weekend with extended family. The prices in Alpe d'huez put us off so we decided to try Hotel Oberland. Fantastic little hotel. I mistakenly thought the bus to Allemond ran regularly and was a bit taken aback to discover it only runs every two hours - meaning we had to be out there for 7.50am. Having said that, we were first on the slopes and had very little walking to do in our boots - the bus is very comfortable (not one of those packed, standing up ski buses) and the station is directly opposite the hotel. All in all a great base for a trip to Alpe d'Huez or...

After a drink to assess our options, the staff helped to try and get us a taxi, and we eventually arranged for a lift later that evening. The staff allowed us to sit and relax in the lounge area, and we then booked to eat at the restaurant. The food was great, especially as there were vegetarian options which I often struggle to find. We didn't see any of the bedrooms but if they follow the general style of the lounge I'm sure they're great. A real life saver and were really thankful for the staff....
