La Flotte is a delightful and charming little town with a maze of quirky streets and a picturesque harbour. Located not far from the harbour amongst the tangle of narrow streets is Hotel La Galiote.||||First the positives:||Easy walking distance to shops, bars and restaurants.||Secure on site parking.||Our room had a large bathroom with Jack and Jill washbasins. Lots of hot water.||Room was decorated in a simple style. Very clean.||||Now the negatives:||Our room was on the ground floor of the annexe building backing onto a street.||The windows in the bathroom and bedroom opened out onto the street. In order to have privacy and fresh air we had to close the shutters and turn on the lights.||Toilet in bathroom was immediately next to the window.||Security gate to hotel was attached to the bedroom wall. Constant whirring noise of gate opening and closing. Very irritating.||||Our main gripe though is reserved for the hotel management/ receptionist. Disappointed with our room, we asked if another was available. This was met with total indifference and the reply that the hotel was fully booked. Two days later we expressed our dissatisfaction again. the response was once again unacceptable, accompanied by a Gallic shrug. However we were offered the opportunity of moving to another room the following day. As we were leaving two days later it really was not worth the effort and declined the offer.||||Having booked well enough in advance It is not acceptable that we were allocated what is probably the worst room in the whole hotel. Our advice, do not book a standard room, pay extra for possibly...
Read moreBefore committing to booking this place take all the negative reviews seriously as the bland positive reviews do not give a true representation. It was not a happy experience for my wife and I and I would never recommend or return. ||||We stayed 5 nights and would have left after two but the owner is stubborn and difficult. Having travelled extensively for over 40 years we frequently have had to change plans and have never ever had a problem until now. The French owner was not for compromise and wanted full payment if we checked out early!||||The positive feedback is that the place is clean and parking is secure. It feels freshly decorated and towels are changed daily. Standard rooms are tiny and smaller than motel rooms anywhere. We had a Superior room and that is essential in our view.||||The negatives are more extensive and apart from the owner who needs a course in business management and hospitality, the location is a good walk from the port and is way overpriced. There are far better options in St Martin and La Flotte.||||In addition we had issues with the very thin towels, the inefficient air conditioning, the breakfast (far more pleasant and cheaper at the port), the lack of manned reception unless it suited the owner, the absence of drinking facilities in the room (neither bottled water or a kettle), cheap toiletries and soap, ||||In summary this an expensive Motel and I would not recommend it unless you are desperate. It is also worthy of note that the owner never responds to any reviews be they positive...
Read moreRooms are clean and comfortable. Comfy bed. The air-conditioning is quiet enough to be able to sleep but the control of it was limited eg it goes off in the morning and min temperature was 19 degrees. It would be nice to have tea and coffee making faciltiesand a mini fridge in the room. Obviously it would probably increase the price but it would be nice to be able to put cold drinks in there.||The location is perfect. Very quiet and a short walk to the centre of the village. La Flotte is a beautiful village. There is parking and it's free of charge if you book direct with the hotel.| |Breakfast is very nice and an extra charge, perhaps a little expensive. It was a nice touch providing a bag to take away any uneaten pastries. ||Would definitely stay...
