Azuki — Restaurant in Mâcon

The service is very nice and friendly. We ordered the D1 for 2 persons. The miso soups were fine and correct. The cabbage salades were reasonable. The sushi boat looked good. All the sushi and rolls were well presented and looked delicious.

However, the first bite of my California roll just knocked me out. The rice, the sushi rice was totally tasteless. I almost couldn’t believe it so I tried one nigiri shushi and....it was the same. Then I tried them all one by one and they were just fish on top of a nature rice ball! The sushi rice, which plays an important role, seems to me was totally not seasoned. I am really disappointed on this. I checked with my boyfriend and he confirmed with me.

I’ve discussed a little bit with the owner at the end and he discussed friendly with me and said that the rice was seasoned with sugar and very little rice vinegar because they found that suits French people better. But honestly, I didn’t taste any of them. Lack of proper seasoned rice, those sushi and rolls were totally not the same even though the fish was quite fresh. Otherwise, I would order a sashimi directly, right?! I am not sure if French people really prefer this type of sushi if they have a chance to try an official one. Certainly not for my boyfriend, who happens to be a French.

Overall, I would say that the in-restaurant experience is nice but after all, the food is the key why you choose to eat in...

What an absolute gem to find in Mâcon! My wife and I have been to Japan many times and lived in Asia for 10 years so we love Japanese food and honestly this was up there with some of the very best we've had, certainly outside of Japan. Prawn tempura were light and very crisp, salmon sashimi was off the charts tender (it arrives fresh from Japan, via Rungis, a few times a week) and a selection of maki/california style rolls also excellent and very fresh. The owner, Julien spoke perfect english and has travelled the world so it was great service. They have a great range of Japanese beers, sake and whiskies so we'll be back very soon to dine one evening. (Also note very good COVID prevention in place with plastic screens between tables indoors and more than required spacing outside)

Bonjour, pour deux personnes, les prix des plats restent corrects en revanche si vous prenez des plats a la carte la note devient vite salé, prenez un exemple 6€ pour un seul temaki ou 3,50€ pour deux brochettes au boeuf. Le chirashi mixte ou saumon sont bons mais j'ai déjà mangé des meilleurs dans d autres restaurants sur Lyon. D ailleurs, le prix du chirashi mixte a 16€ et 1€ en supplément si vous voulez des tranches d avocat c'est limite quand-même, les tranches d avocat devraient être automatique compris dans le plat.ce qui est dommage c'est qu'on nous a servi tous les accompagnements en premier, tous les plats a la carte genre takoyaki ou ravioli assez rapidement et puis une attente de fou pour être servi des plats principaux : deux chirashi qui sont des plats froids et donc normalement qui ne prennent pas 10 ans pour etre fait.l attente ayant été trop longue, on les a englouti et nous sommes vite parti, pas le temps ni l envie de goûter a un dessert. Le restaurant est petit, s'il y a du monde cela devient vite bruyant et surtout une pancarte pour inviter les clients a fermer la porte d entrée serait bien car oui il y a pas mal de clients qui entrent et qui ne sont pas foutu de fermer la porte derrière eux, sympa pour ceux qui sont juste en face de la porte d entrée et qui du coup reçoit l air glacial de dehors. Cela aurait été bien aussi de mettre des tables de 2 derrière la porte d entrée, sur la gauche en entrant dans le restaurant, car les couples ou les personnes seul doivent obligatoirement manger devant la porte d entrée. Les tickets restaurant ok mais avec une limite de 20€ pour la CB alors que c'est noté nul part qu il y a une limite de 20€ pour la cb c'est gonflé !! La loi oblige normalement le restaurateur a afficher la limite pour la CB sinon c'est du vent !! Jy reviendrai sûrement mais...
