I should have looked here before deciding to get a delivery from IKEA Toulouse - it is full of complaints about the service. We too have had a terrible experience so far with IKEA Toulouse. We ordered a kitchen costing over €10k and we are still waiting for it to be completely delivered. We were given a delivery date of 11th July. No show. We spent hours and hours on the phone in queues and then being out on hold and then left completely in the lurch when the phone got cut off on several occasions. Some of the waiting times were so long that the battery on our handset died and thus we were unable to call again until it was recharged. Because this happened so often we had to buy a new phone with a curly cable in order to pursue our complaint effectively! However we were still unable to get through to get a new delivery date (or even an explanation - no one had contacted us about the missing delivery to apologize or explain) so we were forced - partly by the awful tune you get on the IKEA phone line - to drive 2 hours to Toulouse to talk face to face about the problem. No explanation was given however except that is complicated, but we were given a new date 18th July. This delivery did take place but the delivery man noticed there were 2 missing items and a damaged one. (When we opened our boxes we have found 2 more damaged items so far) Several phone calls later we were given another delivery date for these items-23rd July. No show -again, unfortunately, and no contact to explain the failure to meet the rendezvous either. So we got up early again to be first in line on the IKEA call centre. Our news today... we will get a phone call in the next 48 hours(!?!) from the delivery company who will give us a new date. Sounds acceptable-NOT! What a shambles! Obviously this is still to be continued. Delivery costs almost €200 here (compared to £25 if I get a delivery from IKEA UK to my kids house) and it is certainly not worth it. I advise anyone thinking of this option to rent a van instead). I think we need our money back in this instance! Watch this space for the...
Read moreFor the most part, this Ikea is a pleasant (if not exhausting) experience. But they offer a wide range of products and we have bought many useful items. However I had a very negative experience recently and wanted to address it: the ‘controle’ after self checkout (which I also think is a bit much to expect the customer to do, after a long and many times exhausting shopping trip through the store-but that’s another subject)
The woman who did the random check on me after I did all the work of a cashier took almost 10 minutes, doing who knows what with each item in my basket. All the items I bought were clearly visible and i expected her to compare the items in my basket with the items on my receipt and I could be on my way.
No, not at all! She kept scanning an item, moving items around in the cart, rescanning. After a few minutes, I really thought this must be a bad joke. It was as if she was intentionally detaining me to make a show of authority or something. Finally, after such a long time of this, I had to distract myself by using my phone, because the situation was causing me so much anxiety.
Please have a discussion with your security staff and let them know that there is no reason to take so long with a simple check of a cart and that they are making loyal customers upset.
Find a way to be nicer and do the checks quickly.
Especially after having made the customer do the self-checkout! Its already a LOT of work to shop...
Read moreI felt bad and uncomfortable. They were checking me 3 times, if I didn't steal anything. I was confused with cashier machine and asked for help. Instead I met not nice lady who came and said I didn't do it properly and should start again. It was stressful. Then another lady came to check if I did everything correct even without saying whats going on. Then a guard came to me asked to check my bags. She was the nicest but still it caused a lot of stress. It's my third country where I have to do ikea shopping for apartment and I'm sorry to say but never such a treatment happened to me before in any shop. I know it's their job to prevent stealing, but it crossed some sense of good taste. I give 3 stars because the restaurant zone was a pleasant time with nice and...
