This was our first trip to Paris and we chose this hotel based on reviews and the price. ||||We booked the hotel for 4 nights through hotels.com and it gave the impression in the email sent to us that breakfast was included daily. When we returned to our room, tired, on the second day we were locked out of our room. The manager told us that for some reason hotels.com created 2 reservations for us..so we had to pay again for the tax and register for a new key, and breakfast was now not included. I dont understand why we were locked out...it would have been more polite if the staff simply reminded us about this, instead of us returning late at night with two toddlers and seeing that we were locked out. My husband was obviously upset and confused, and when I started talking to the manager he said "I already explained it to him" and ignored me. That really set me off. He told us that we are free to choose a different hotel. He did not apologize about the inconvenience or express any understanding. We were told we will have to pay for breakfast..which we didnt understand.||||The next morning, I brought my two children to breakfast alone and while leaving the manager marched over to me "I'll be waiting for your payment at reception." Like..come on. I was with 2 crying kids, couldn't he have waited? And he expected me to do it that moment. I returned the kids to the room with my husband and went to speak to the manager. We both called Expedia and cleared up the reservation issue, but he told me that he is human and that I was ride to him. Oh yea, being locked out of my room and told to get another hotel will make me be your best friend. He was concerned about receiving a bad review and quickly put on a fake kind face.||||The next morning at breakfast, before I entered the room, I informed the staff that I would be paying after. I brought the kids to the room and just sat down to eat. In marched the same staff member that I just spoke to.. this time with a copy of our reservation, coldly saying that we have to pay now. People were looking, as if I was a low life thief, desperate for some eggs and mini croissants. I was so angry, I went and paid for the breakfast and told him thsy what he did was rude. He expressed no emotion, simply handing me the credit card machine.||||I returned to the room before heading out for the day and the cleaning lady told me off for always having dirty towels.||||Like I said in the title..it is basic, clean, but if you are faced with an issue or have concerns...good luck with getting any sincere customer...
Read moreI stayed one night on my own, first the positives: room was clean, bed was comfy, didn’t have any noise overnight, the rate is cheap. But, I had some issues. The bathroom (only that for some reason, not the room at all) smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke. The bed side light on one side was broken - no problem as I just slept in the other bed, but would have been a pain if I stayed with my husband as we both like to read in bed. Also as others have said they area isn’t that great, but I was visiting a friend who lived locally so that couldn’t be helped. For me the most frustrating thing was the service. It took 30 minutes to check in, and there were only four people in the queue ahead of me. It was really frustrating. It looked like maybe the systems were slow and also maybe the guests ahead of me had some tricky requests, but 30 mins to wait was just too long. Also I left my phone charger, and the next day emailed the address from my reservation confirmation - I was told it was fine to just go to the reception. Which I did, but they couldn’t find it. I was told I was too late as the cleaning staff had gone home and to come back on Monday (this was a Friday and we left Paris the next morning - I had moved to a different hotel by then). I’m sure they’re not the only hotel to have this system, and possibly the cleaning staff hadn’t found or stored it - but it seems to me a really basic thing to ask cleaning staff to put any found items somewhere accessible so that front office staff can quickly retrieve it for guests that come back to collect forgotten belongings. All of us will be travelers with limited time, and I think it would make sense as a simple way to offer a better customer experience. Also, the head office which received my email could have simply passed on my request so that it was received in time, before the cleaning staff staff left, or let me know that I had go before a certain time. I know it was my responsibility in leaving it, but after taking time out of a short Paris trip to go back to the hotel, it was so frustrating to be told that it could not be found and to come back...
Read moreWe had a really bad experience at this hotel. At first we were so impressed with the hotel, it was cheap, and it was nice and clean. The staff was ok. However, the first day we got there, we left our luggage and other stuff in our room. We left our passports at the front desk because the room did not have a safe. We went out to visit some of the tourist places in Paris, and came back around midnight to find out that someone enter our room and stole our laptop. They also checked under the mattress to see if we were hiding something under it. We spoke to the person on the front desk who told us we needed to make a police report and speak to the manager the next day. We did. The police told us that was very common in Paris, specially in this city of “St Ouen”. The police also told us that the city of Saint Ouen is not a safe place, specially for tourists. The manager only apologized and told us they couldn’t do anything about it. We asked if there were any cameras and they responded that they checked the cameras and they said they saw “a suspicious person” but that’s it! The hotel uses this electronic cards as keys, and the door was not forced. We did not leave the door open, I can guarantee that because I always check doors before I leave. Thankfully, Expedia return all our money and we left this hotel as soon as possible. We lost our laptop, thankfully they did not take our bags with our medication and clothes. I do not recommend this hotel to anybody that visits Paris. Stay at a hotel near the places you are visiting where all the...
