Over New year 2022, my family (2 adults 2 teens) stayed here with 2 other families of similar ages. We went with Heidi the company and the provided us with transfer, (2.5 hrs from Geneva) so did not have to worry about parking although it didn't seem too busy. ||The actual apartment was good, we had a double bed room for us and then the kids slept on the sofa beds which where surprisingly comfy! The apartment was pretty small with a toilet room, shower and sink room, bedroom, small kitchen (dishwasher yet no oven) and dining room lounge. ||There are 2 buildings, we where 2 families in 1 and 1 in the other. In one there was a nice restaurant (really friendly waiters) and the pool. The pool was only open from about 4-7 I think and not open on Saturdays. The pool was outside and the air was freezing so made you cold, however the water temperature was warm, you couldn't stay in there for long. ||The apartment has its own locker room which gets quite busy, and the lockers are pretty small! It then leads onto a blue run, although you have to walk a bit as the snow was starting to melt by those areas, but ok. We had 2 beginner children who absolutely freaked on that run and found it really hard as it is quite busy and steep, so would not recommend for beginners. The blur is quite short and leads to the main lift which takes you up to the top or you can go to the other side.||The town is quite a walk, so be prepared. There is an elevator but only for the last stairs. Be warned, when collecting your skis and boots, it is a very hard walk!||Little supermarket in minutes walk but more in town and above.||Overall it was a great skiing holiday, and for...
Read moreA great week's family ski trip which unfortunately was really let down by the accomodation! ||Valmenier is a great family ski resort with lots of green and blue runs ensuring little ones can get up to the top of the mountain. ||Our daughter went to ESF ski school for morning lessons and really enjoyed it - we were really impressed with her progress during the week.||The apartments are ski in, ski out and a great location for the slopes.||There is also a really good restaurant on the ground floor, which although inside the hotel, is apparently independent, and served some of the best food in the resort at really reasonable prices.||Unfortunately the accomodation left a lot to be desired. Our first apartment was mouldy and smelled of damp so we asked to move.||The second apartment was marginally better but the shower room ceiling was still mouldy, and the decor was very old fashioned and dated.||We soon realised that the toilet leaked and smelled terrible, and with no extractor fan it was not very pleasant!||Last moan - the bedding was very poor quality, lumpy pillows and duvets, split covers and not enough pillows.||Would definitely consider returning to Valmenier but would hope that we could find better quality accomodation 2nd...
Read moreWe stopped over new year's eve week. We were expecting it to be busy but the parking for the hotel was horrendous. We arrived early in the evening and parking was already starting to become impossible. We managed to find a space and went to check in only to be told we needed to drive further up the resort to some other buildings. Because even though you book a room in the thabor you could actually be in one of several other buildings it would seem. After driving to the top of the resort to our building parking was full. I dropped my wife and child off with the bags as close as I could then spent well over an hour driving up and down the resort to find a space. Which was further away then if we had just stayed where we were when we checked in at the thabor. As for the room we had one of the largest rooms for 3 of us so there was plenty of room but if it was filled to capacity it would be very cramped, kitchen was very basic. The bathrooms were a bit cramped and the beds were uncomfortable. The view from the balcony of the slopes was amazing. I loved being able to ski in and out too. The ski locker set up was one of the best we've had as well it felt secure enough and plenty of space allocated to...
