I was a little concerned when we went to check in around 4pm as the queue was huge - however the reception staff were friendly, organised and efficient and got through the queue very quickly. We didn’t have much cause to visit reception during our stay but when we did we were greeted by friendly faces and our questions answered - our kettle didn’t work and this was promptly changed.||||The accommodation is extremely clean and the kitchen is well equipped with everything you would expect. If I had any negative feedback it would be to say that the kitchen area could do with a little more light as it was quite dark and not easy to see in the evening. I didn’t use the pool but my teenagers had fun in it and told me it was great. Again it looked very clean when I popped down.||||Plenty of room for our 4 lots of skis and boots in the ski room. There is just a very short walk to the slopes although the slope down to the ski lifts is a little tricky for beginners but very wide so you can take your time without getting in anyone’s way and I believe there is a free bus to the lifts. ||||Location for us couldn’t have been better. There is a very nice patisserie next door and a well stocked supermarket a few doors away, ski hire is next door to reception and ski pass and ski school also just doors away. ||||We are intermediate skiers and love Valmeinier (this is our 3rd visit). There were plenty of runs to suit us and neighbouring resort of Valloire is included in the lift pass and gave us even more choice. ||||We paid for WiFi in the room and this was reliable enough to satisfy two teenagers. We had a great time and would highly recommend this...
Read moreThe Residence Les Hauts de Valmeinier offers different apartements, for bigger and smaller groupes. We were only 2 persons and had an apartement for 2-4 persons. I think, for 4 persons it would be too small, as you would use the sofa as a bed and a separate room for the other two persons (with a "real" but narrow bed). The apartment was equipped with a kitchen, including a dish washer and an induction hob - in my opinion this is quite a high standard. The rooms were very clean, the equipment obviously quite new. The ski room was in the same building, so you could store your equipment easily. The Residence is directly near to the slopes, two super markets with quite normal prices, some restaurants and the ticket service for the ski area are nearby. ||Only some minus aspects lead to a worse rating: ||- TV and Internet have to be payed separately, which is rediculous, because for me that has to be a modern standard||- The reception is not always open, so if the weather is too bad for skiing and you want to book an internet access or you want to book a reservation for the fitness room, it might be impossible.||- The swimming pool is very small and a little bit too cold.||- The sauna costs 15 Euro for only 30 min / apartement. That's definitly a too short period for...
Read moreThis was a first skiing trip as a family, and my wife and I had not been for 13 years. The accommodation is basic but clean, warm and well equipped. The staff on reception are really helpful. There is a queue to get in at around 3.30pm on the Saturday but it goes fairly quickly. There are ski lockers with an exit out of the building with only a 25m walk to the slopes.||||There are a few nice and well priced restaurants within a short walk and a well stocked supermarket. The ski shop is in the building and the ESF and lift pass office are just the other side of the car park. ||||The free ski bus down to 1800 was great for the first two days but after that the kids were able to ski down easy enough to the ESF meeting point. ||||The skiing here is great for beginners and anyone with a young family. The pistes are not that busy even during half term and the ski school was really good. For the more adventurous there is loads of skiing on the other side of the valley. ||||Only downside is that parking can be a bit of an pain. €70 gets you a space for the car in the underground carpark and I might be tempted next time after dragging cases through the snow. ||||We will definitely be...
