Restaurant Les Lauzes — Restaurant in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne

We found this restaurant next to our appartmemt block and to the access to the pistes in Valmeinier 1800 (les hauts). They served us with a smile even if we arrived late for lunch. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. We will surely return to Valmeinier and to this restaurant.

NB: our car got trapped im the snow after a snow storm. The owners of the restauramt were so kind to lend us a spade so that we could remove the snow in front of the car to get traction. We did really appreciate it - as this happened later in the evening when the stores were already closed....

Staying in Valmeinier 1800 we (3 best friends) visited here first night without reservation. We were very happy. We felt immediately welcome, warm atmosphere, friendly and authentic service. We had some great organic cider, raclette Morbier and both the size of the cheese and the extras were superb. Also the bottle of Rosanne paired perfectly with the raclette. Expérience très décevante au niveau du service. Nous avions une réservation à 20h pour 8 personnes, et 4 d’entre nous sont arrivés avec seulement 7 minutes de retard car nous cherchions où nous garer. Dès notre arrivée, la serveuse ne nous a même pas dit bonjour et nous a donné l’impression de déranger. Pendant que nous attendions le reste du groupe (en retard dû au travail sur la station), le cuisinier nous observait sans cesse, ce qui était assez malaisant.

Lorsque tout le monde est enfin arrivé (vers 20h30) la serveuse était désabusée et toujours aussi peu accueillante. Un minimum de politesse et de professionnalisme aurait été apprécié. Je comprends qu’un groupe avec du retard puisse changer l’organisation de la cuisine mais il n’était que 20h30. Il vaut mieux tenir un autre magasin si en tant que cuisinier vous espérez partir à 21h. Nous avions tellement l’impression de déranger que nous avons hésité à partir avant de commander mais par respect pour avoir bloqué une table, nous sommes restés.
