Why quirky? Most hotel rooms have painted or papered walls, but our room - and I suspect many others- had bare pink plaster (see photo). Maybe refurbishment was being undertaken and left unfinished. Most hotels have a breakfast option which contains an element of choice, but the Le Tilbury has strict portion control and you will find every ingredient on your breakfast tray which you are entitled to consume listed in the Information folder in your room. The breakfast trays contain mostly pre-packaged food, with only juice, breads and coffee or tea added when you sit down. But, the tray is brought to your table and refills of coffee and /or hot water for tea are available on request.||The hotel has many very good aspects : firstly, its location, with access to the citadel (old town) just up the hill to the right, the Tourist Info office a little further up the hill, and a bit beyond that, a mini-market shop. Don't expect too much of the Tourist Info staff : don't bother asking them about the Bastion,as they seemed unable to tell us some basic facts, such as that entry to it is free and there is a great 360 degree view of the town. ||Also, most rooms have a good sea view from a balcony, and most balconies get plenty of sunshine. There is a good pool, (towels available from the breakfast bar), good sun beds and sofa-style seating where bar snacks and drinks can be enjoyed. The staff, especially the charming Moroccan/French young lady called Boursha, are most welcoming, friendly and obliging. Telling us that British people were "so nice" may have coloured our impression of her, but we liked her even before that. Despite the plain walls and the plain - but adequate- breakfast, we were happy with the hotel and felt...

If you're considering staying at the Tilbury Hotel in Porto Vecchio—don’t. We stayed for 5 nights in peak August and were charged more than three times the off-peak price. Unfortunately, the service, facilities, and overall experience weren’t even worth a third of what we paid.
There was no WiFi for the entire stay. Not spotty WiFi. Not slow WiFi. Just absolutely none—despite it being advertised as a standard amenity. When we asked about it, the man at reception was completely useless—indifferent, unhelpful, and frankly couldn’t care less. No updates, no apologies, just a shrug.
The hotel itself is dark, gloomy, and in desperate need of a renovation. The rooms are tired and feel neglected, much like the attitude of the staff. Everything about the place feels dated and depressing. Calling it a “hotel” is generous—it has more in common with a rundown hostel that’s lost its funding. The worst part? The staff. Miserable, rude, and uninterested in anything resembling hospitality. Not once were we made to feel welcome or even acknowledged with basic courtesy.
This hotel trades purely on location and completely neglects everything else. For what we paid, we could have stayed somewhere genuinely luxurious—but instead, we got this sad, grim excuse of a hotel.
Save your money. Stay literally...
