Le Champ Des Oiseaux — Hotel in Troyes

We found this hotel via the Guide Michelin as we needed a stopover on our way to the Dordogne. I contacted the hotel via email to explain we were travelling with a young dog and ideally would like a room on the ground floor. The hotel responded promptly to suggest a room in Le Champ des Oiseaux rather than the slightly more expensive La Maison des Rhodes. ||The room was perfect, easily accessible with the dog, beautifully decorated with very comfy beds. ||Upon check-in, I enquired about a restaurant and the young lady at reception immediately offered to call and check if dogs were allowed and made a reservation for us. ||The hotel is in a great location, less than a 5-minute walk to the city centre with lots of bars and restaurants but in a quiet little side street. The hotel has been renovated to a very high standard whilst respecting its origin and history. If you stay here, I suggest you have a look at the photo book that shows what it looked like before and after. It is quite an amazing transformation. |The staff were fantastic, very friendly and provided great customer service. |Breakfast was lovely too, forget buffets with lukewarm dishes, if you want a hot breakfast, you can choose from a little menu, and it is freshly cooked and delicious. |We reserved and paid for the private parking the hotel offers which I would recommend as the hotel is in a narrow street with no real parking spots. However, they do have some recommendations on their website, but we found it was worthwhile paying for the private one. |I strongly recommend this hotel, and we would definitely stay here again...

Je suis venue avec une amie pour découvrir la région en voulant réserver dans le 5 étoiles la maison de Rhodes, confiante du groupe prestigieux derrière cet hôtel. Malheureusement nous avons été très déçue de notre expérience.

Ce que nous avons aimé : emplacement très bien, jolie ruelle pavée non passante, au cœur de Troyes bâtiment et cours intérieures charmants avec beaucoup de cachet chambre jolie avec grande salle de bain, très propre, peignoirs et produits de beauté de bonne qualité mis à disposition

Ce que nous n'avons pas aimé : Chambre : elle ne faisait pas 40m2 comme indiqué sur booking (en réalité 10m2 de moins), et ne correspondait pas non plus aux photos mises sur booking. Chambre extrêmement sombre alors que nous avions demandé une chambre lumineuse.

Petit-déjeuner : aucune explication et détails de l'offre par le réceptionniste. Nous avons finalement rempli le formulaire avec une seconde réceptionniste mais le petit-déjeuner servi ne correspondait pas à nos demandes (oubli du lait, corbeille de viennoiseries avec uniquement deux croissants, compote et salades de fruits industrielles). Rapport qualité prix non cohérent et très décevant.

service : J'ai appelé en demandant la maison de Rhodes expressément pour réserver une chambre et sans me prévenir la réceptioniste a réservé dans le 4 étoiles le champ des oiseaux. A l'arrivée je l'ai découvert de moi-même, personne ne m'avait expliqué que la réception servait pour les deux hôtels et personne ne s'est excusé, la réceptionniste n'a d'ailleurs pas hésité à me dire que c'était de ma faute car je n'avais pas bien précisé l'hôtel, ce qui est faux et très déplacé. Accueil impersonnel, expéditif, sans aucune amabilité et explications. Une des réceptionnistes était agréable mais confuse et incapable de nous renseigner sur l'offre de l'établissement (description/caractéristiques des chambres, offre spa et massages). Checkout désagréable (on ne nous a pas demandé si notre séjour s'était bien passé, aucune excuse ou geste commercial, pas d'aide avec nos valises, il fallait payer et partir)

Nous avons rarement vu un service aussi mauvais, surtout dans un hôtel de luxe. Malheureusement la direction n'a même pas tenté/voulu que l'on parte sur une note positive, malgré nos diverses remarques lors de notre séjour, dommage.

Joli potentiel, malheureusement le personnel n'est pas...

A beautiful place to stay for a night on the way from Provence back to the Eurotunnel (we would happily have stayed an extra night). Really pretty old hotel with very attentive staff and a beautiful courtyard. It’s a couple of minutes walk to the very attractive town centre where there’s a big choice of restaurants. There’s no private parking so the choice is squeezing into on-street spaces or driving a couple of minutes to the nearest underground car park which the hotel can give you a 5 euro ticket for. Double bedroom was small but nicely appointed, although no air conditioning, just a fan. Would recommend. The sister hotel next door is 5-star, this was the slightly cheaper option, although the very small swimming pool and either courtyard could be used by...
