Hotel de Biarritz — Hotel in Vichy

I love this hotel! The picture on the ad makes the room look dark but it has great lighting and good lights for reading in bed. It is located just off the square with the post office and a short block from the Casino grocery store. If you are walking from the SNCF station, it is easy to find if you just look for the Post office. It is a short walk.||The rooms are large with a new bathroom and very clean. It has a hotwater pot and makings for coffee and tea in the room. The bed is very comfortable. The front desk is really helpful and has a nice tourist map with all the interesting places to see for the town and WWII history. It is a small town with a great park along the river for walking or biking.||The hotel has an 11 euro breakfast with a nice coffee machine, fruit, French bread, pancakes, pastry, bread, butter, jam, yogurt and much more.||There is also good wifi in the room.||There are really nice restaurants in Vichy and nice cafes. I can recommend the steakhouse L'aloyau. 35 av des Célestins. If you don't want steak they have other choices and nice entrees. The chef was happy to cook my steak well-done. Streak, salad, fries and a beer 23 euros. A nice local bistrot.||I left my book in the room and only noticed the next night when I looked for it my my bag! We booked for 4 people and got attached rooms. The rooms were lovely, albeit slightly snug for 4, but as we were only there for 2 nights it was okay. The bathroom was split into two rooms- toilet, then sink and shower separately. The rooms are modern, clean and stylish with comfortable beds. The shower has great water pressure. The staff were very warm, welcoming and helpful.||The hotel is located just off a lovely public square with a fountain, various restaurants and a post office. It's a nice space where kids can stretch their legs if needed. Stayed here with my family for five days--it's run by a lovely young family who take excellent care of their guests and their hotel. The continental breakfast is great and extremely reasonably priced, and it's right across from a fantastic pizza place. The wifi can be a bit spotty on the top floor, but always works in the very comfortable lounge downstairs, and they were working on getting a technician to fix it while we were there, so this will probably not be an issue for long.
