When I booked this hotel on booking.com I wrote a message to the hotel asking to confirm if parking and pets would be an additional charge. The room was advertised at £40 and I clearly stated in my message to them that if there were additional charges I would not want to stay there as we have a specific budget that we were working with. On the website, I tried to “pay later” but the site would not allow me to do so, therefor I had to “pay now” and make the reservation. I received an email straight back from the hotel stating that there would not be any additional charges for my requests. A few minutes later I received another email stating that there is a parking charge of €8.50 per night and a pet cleaning fee of €9 which would’ve added an additional 30% to the total price! We called the hotel and asked to cancel but they refused. We then called Booking.com in the hopes they could help us cancel the booking. We’ve explained that we felt that the hotel forced us into booking before we could get an answer to our questions and it felt extremely desperate. We literally had JUST made the booking. Booking.com called the hotel 3 times on our behalf but they wouldn’t give us a refund and said that they would charge us regardless if we show or don’t show. Although they offered to waive the pet and parking fee, we were no longer comfortable staying there. We didn’t have another choice though as options in the area were limited. When we checked in, the entire hotel smelled like smoke, it was gross! The receptionist acted awkward toward us which made us feel completely out of place and even more uncomfortable. He also stood in front of the main building door smoking and dragging in that nasty smell which we found very unprofessional and sickening. When we got our keys, we inspected the room. The toilet had NOT been cleaned and it looked like it hadn’t been scrubbed in weeks! There were urine staines all over it- see picture below. We went downstairs, showed the picture to the receptionist but he didn’t even say anything - no apology, no nothing- he gave us a key to another room. When we inspected the new room, we noticed staines on the bed sheets and pillows, some of which were black and others looked like dried blood. Note - this is my worst nightmare. I literally felt sick to my stomach. Luckily we had a blanket in the car that we put on top of the sheets and we used our own pillows that we brought for camping. I could barely fall asleep, that’s how disgusted I was. The room was quite small and quite uncomfortable for a couple and a dog. The nightstand lamps were made from the cheapest plastic material, just a disgrace really. If I can say anything slightly positive about this place- it’s the price. But... you get what you pay for- which in this case is very accurate. Although I must say that we had stayed at an amazing place for the same money in Germany a few days prior, so in all reality it wasn’t all that great value for money if you ask me. There were literally no other people staying at the hotel at the time we were there. This makes me realise that they were extremely desperate for money and hence wouldn’t let us cancel our reservation. Nothing else makes sense. At the time of check out which for us was at 10am (normally 11am), no soul could be found in the hotel. We were hoping to pick up an invoice but the reception was closed. To sum it all up - I really hope our £40 were worth a BAD review!! I would never ever stay at this place again and would recommend that you think twice before booking. Have a look on AirBnB- you can get an entire apartment for a few...
Read moreWe only wanted to stay one night. Seeing other ratings, I guess we were lucky they had someone to attend us at 20:00. Curry and food smell was what first struck us. Then the carpet on the stairs was so dirty and dusty I think that it would be much better if they took them out. I think they tried to renovate the hotel some years ago and some of the furniture is in good condition, but other is not.
I don't think they have a cleaning service because the bathroom was smelling like piss, no air ventilation. The shower had mold of different colours: black, yellow, pink, you name it. They tried to cover it with a towel. The mold in the tiles was painted over with white paint which only makes it worse....
I didn't take my shoes off and did not take a shower there because it is a health hazard. I don't even think that prisons have these conditions.
I'm sure that seeing from the comments this hotel must have had some change 6 years ago, and since Corona it was a downfall. I'm sorry for that.
Hope they will take...
Read moreI firmly Not recommend anyone to stay in this hotel! Why it is opened for the poor guests , I don’t get. it’s extremely dirty ! stinky! And it’s not safe for your health to stay here. I did not expect such dirtiness in Germany( I want notify desinfection center of Aachen to come and check in on dangerous Mikrobs. I was cheated they would clean at least my room but after moving in and paying I discovered awful condition in bathroom shower. I have pics and videos, I cleaned it myself , 🤮to take a shower.I also clean a bed myself and doors all in spot! Also no any plug near the bed! Why I m still here? Because I was operated on my leg and arms and I cannot carry heavy bags to another hotel! Also,I have to struggle every day with keys, which is always stuck and so I cannot go out in time! My holiday is spoilt!((😢😢😢I ve been asked for this hell 700 for and was discounted...
