Best Western Blankenburg Hotel — Hotel in Coburg

I had a phenomenal experience in this hotel located in Coburg. I was attending a wedding rehearsal dinner at a nearby restaurant and the hotel was perfectly located to that venue but also the Castle and downtown area. Check-in was effortless and the front desk lady was beyond nice to me. She took the time to explain what was available at the hotel, show me around (I.e. elevators. Breakfast area etc) and have me some very useful tips as to how to get around town and see a few things in a minimal amount of time. I only had one afternoon to spare and was able to drive to the castle, visit everything and then head towards the downtown area for a couple hours stroll without any issue. My room was large, very clean and had everything one could wish for with a great view as well. The bathroom was also large and bed was very comfortable. There was plenty of storage and also a safe available. Now i noticed there was no AC but this can be common for more remote areas throughout Europe; it was a non issue as weather outside was mild and I could open 2 large windows for fresh air. My room was also very quiet. The breakfast was really good with great choices, fresh juice and coffee and strong selection of local breads and pastries. Checkout was also effortless and I was sent on my way back with thank you and a smile. Note that the hotel has outside free parking which is very convenient. So overall I had a great experience and would definitely recommend this hotel considering that it was also very affordable for the quality and service received. I stayed at this hotel for two nights with my family in July 2021 and can wholeheartedly recommend to stay there. Service and rooms were excellent, staff went the extra mile to make sure that Covid restrictions were enforced and even turned them into something special. As a bread basket wasn't allowed, you got to choose your bread roles in advance and they were delivered in a paper bag with a little saying on it. This and other little surprises made us feel very welcome - a fantastic eye for lovely details. We had booked the arrangement with vouchers for several sights which worked like a treat. Cleanliness of the rooms (carpets, mattress, sheets, furniture, bathroom) was top notch, felt very inviting.

Staff (Suzanne especially) was very understanding, knowledgeable and friendly.

Arthur's Pub on the main floor is a quality restaurant with great prices on daily specials. Classic British Pub food, many beers on tap, tons of bottled/canned beers, wide liquor selection. Being a tradesman there for work in Port Hope, lots of other tradesmen (and women) there to converse with in a friendly atmosphere.

After Staying at the Comfort Inn in Port Hope, I plan on never going there again because Best Western made me realize just what a hotel...
