Very authentic design revolving around music! The rooms are frugal, but decorated cutely and the carpeted floor looks like grass and is soft and clean. The piano-like table and the decorative teddy bear are awesome additions! ||The area around is quiet and the parking spot beside the hotel is affordable and reliable (parking is not included in the daily room rate, clarify the prices with the Front Office). You can commute to the Altstadt by tram, an e-scooter (if you find any around) or by bike, it is around 15-20 minutes' ride or 35-40 minutes on foot.||The breakfast is worth it and, apart from a sufficient selection of coffee types, tea flavours and food, you will enjoy an area reminiscent of synthesizers, vinyl, stave and nostalgic music while having your morning coffee.||Another plus is the complete cashless payment method used within the hotel, including tipping, so forget about the "cash is king" rule for a while. This policy gets off you the pressure of looking for ATMs for cash withdrawal and you can relax with using your bank card for everything, including tips to the staff. Speaking of which, the staff has a professional approach. They are polite; don't expect the American style wide smile and chattiness, but for sure expect people to mirror your approach: the kinder you are, the more kindness you get back.||Overall, an enjoyable stay in a hotel with best attention to detail.||||Rooms: Clean, well-aired (windows opening properly) and relatively frugal rooms, meaning no wardrobes or drawers, only hangers. The latter is an advantage because you are less likely to forget things in the room upon departure. No housekeeping service provided by default if your stay is less than 3 nights, unless you explicitly request it from the reception, which is an advantage for guests supporting eco-friendly practices. The frequent and objectively needless change of bedsheets and towels is unreasonable and a five-star service does not mean it should cost the environment.||In-room L'OR coffee machine with Jacobs capsules.||||Walkability: Walking distance from Dresden Altstadt is 40 min., commuting by tram or bike/e-scooter riding takes 20 min. I fully agree with the hotel's eco-friendly policy of limited housekeeping service, which is provided only upon your explicit request, unless you stay more than 3 nights. Read moreWe stayed for two nights after finishing the Malerweg. Compared to the other hotels we paid almost twice the price. However the room was not worth that amount of money. For 200+ euros a night I expect a comfy and spacious room, good shower and great breakfast. The location is good. You're not that close to anything, but a tramline connects you to the city centre and it drives often. If you don't mind walking 15-20 minutes you'll also find yourself in a nice part of Dresden for restaurants/lunch/etc. The room itself was fine and had airconditioning (which was great during the 30+ degrees celsius days). It was however very much just any regular hotel room. The shower smelled at night due to sewage smells climbing up the pipes and the shower had such a weak stream that you had to stand in the corner (of a spacy shower) to actually use it. The breakfast was another 21,90 per person per morning. And while it does have a lot of options it wasn't even remotely worth it. By far the most stale Kaiserbrödchen we've had the entire holiday.
Overall this is not a bad hotel by any stretch of the imagination. But its price-quality is just plain bad. The breakfast would've been great at 10-13 euro's per person and the room would've been fine if the price would've been a lot lower. As it is I'd recommend looking...
